2 gals, one has issues. Solved (unusual)!

Growlog link: Banana Punch 2

Have got a Banana Punch (left) and a Blue Gelato (right) outdoors. The BG is doing great but the BP is looking a little sad and I cannot figure out what is up with it.

They are both being treated the same, which is making the issues with just one weird af!

All BioBizz products - litemix soil (ph 7), biogrow and bioheaven nutes (to EC1.0 and ph 6.5) and a good 6hrs direct sun. RO water with 1.5ml calmag per litre. Daytime temps 25-30C (77-86F). Watering wet to dry so don’t think it is over/underwatering.

Have just done ph and calmag’ed water only (no nutes) which perked her up for a day but today has gone back to her old ways…

Was thinking it might be lockout but my numbers say otherwise. Also have some yellow spots appearing on the old leaves which may or may not be related. And the droopy leaves are not yellow or anything, just droopy and curling down. difficult to see clearly in the pics but that is the main issue, the leaves are all droopy and sad looking with some curling down and inward. Also, no detectable pests that i can see.

Any ideas what it might be? Am going to transplant into bigger pots next week see if that helps but would be good to get the issue resolved before that.

Thanks!

ok so an update if anyone reads this…

found the issue after nothing else worked. so i just transplanted and found this:

Seems I had green roots! A quick search says it could be either light exposure or algae. If it was algae they would be slimy though so my thoughts were “how the hell could it be light if it was in a pot?!”

Lifting it up to the light though you could clearly see light penetrating through the plastic! Cheap ass pots grrr… anyway she’s into her new home, hopefully this resolves things.

Just thought I would post as I have not seen this issue before.

Good Evening Sir :fist:t2:

This is quite unusual.

Did you snap a photo of the roots? (If they turned green they were definitely exposed to some light pollution. (Paint them black)

When transplanting, did you see ample roots at the bottom?

==Maybe use your phone torch & check if the pot is leaking light ( I’d switch off all the lights in the room, illuminate the pot from the side & check if it’s polluting.==

:warning: How to identify light pollution :warning:

This is only a “Rule of thumb” method. - *Place a book, newspaper article or any text inside the pot and illuminate the side. If you can read the text inside the pot, will be an indication of excessive light pollution *

I think cannabis threshold for light pollution is 10nmol/m²s

sup Ratch!

yeah i know, it took ages to figure out, tried everything lol. and even then was by accident as the only thing left to test was transplanting. as soon as i took it out the pot it was clear what the issue was. didn’t take a snap sorry as was mid transplant, thought after i should have taken one but wasn’t about to take them back out after potting…

anyway they are both a lot happier after a quick root prune and some mico. brb will grab a pic

What’s crackelackin’ Mr
Shweet!! I’m stoked to hear the positive vibes!!

You’re on point there sir! The Mycorrhizae will help immensely for those damaged roots… From my personal experiences, any droopy, clawing, or wilting leaves is due to rootzone problems…

You have to follow [Dr Bruce Bugbee] lectures! By far the best !!

yeah man always great to figure out a solution to a problem, ngl this one tested me though hahaha.

love mico, saw a vid comparing to grows with vs without, difference was unreal.

yes, was not rootbound but roots at the edge were bright green, just like the foliage.

How are your power troubles going? Hope all good!

on it, cheers!

Not too well to be honnest. The passing week had no scheduled outages but the winter’s going to be bleek!! We are expecting a colder winter than usual, as morning frost/dew has already started.

Eskom warns power system is ‘severely constrained’ | Fin24 (news24.com)
How many hours is Stage 2 of loadshedding?

JOHANNESBURG – Eskom announced on Monday afternoon that it will implement stage 2 load shedding from 5 pm until 10 pm.

How many hours is Stage 4?

Stage 4: Will double the frequency of Stage 2, which means you will be scheduled for load-shedding 12 times over a four-day period for two hours at a time, or 12 times over an eight-day period for four hours at a time.

It’s ridiculous, isn’t it?? But oh well, we’ll manage something! My indoor’s getting happier too, but the leaf damage is irreversible. So what I’ve done is prune only the leaf tips to get rid of most of the affected leaves. Instead of defoliating the entire canopy. They still absorb photons on the “Pruned Leaves” thus less stress for the plants to recover + open some lower budsites.

Here’s the latest pics!! As you can see they weren’t the happiest campers without power! lmao

dayum bro, god that has to be stressful…

have you looked into battery systems? they charge when you have power then take over when it goes out. i’ve seen people use a bunch of car batteries, or if you have the cash then you could look at ready built systems but they cost 5 figures plus…

check this guy out, forget the solar if you dont want it but the battery systems would sort you right out…

Thanks dude, I have been thinking of building a “Inverter System with two batteries”, it’s just difficult for me financially at the moment. They’re also a bit pricy for a more powerful inverter. My lights alone running 900W, I have a 1000W/2000W heater that runs at night too…

For now I have to grid my teeth and do what’s necessary. Don’t fix nothing by stressing about it. It’s totally beyond my control so!! It’s awful. For me to “stress” too much about it will only ruin my karma & vibes. It’s like drinking poison and thinking/believing the person who wronged me will die…

I’ll have too think of some solution!!

yeah i feel your pain. could maybe look into reconditioning old car batteries yourself. not sure on inverters tho, except for second hand.

dog on a treadmill?
