A bit flummoxed šŸ™ƒ

Ok so I decided to follow my instincts and go for a Hail Mary: I topped and trimmed them and now, to pray :grimacing::face_with_peeking_eye:

Too many damaged parts, at least now I can see clearly what’s going on.

Damaged plant has one side completely stunted, the other growing, albeit slowly. Roots are way too low in the ground to be all seen but the smaller ones I saw are white.

The other one looks better, but I still gave it a trim too. Same deal with the roots.

I also found some metal grills to place them on so the pots would breathe better/more equally, as the bottom was very wet.

I’ll keep to clear water for now, will wait a bit before giving fertilizer again. Unless you think I should start again?

:crossed_fingers:t2::crossed_fingers:t2::crossed_fingers:t2: I’ll keep you posted, thanks for your patience!

ETA: added pics I forgot at first.

Hi!

I’m using ā€œnormalā€ soil, what we call ā€œterreauā€ here, with around 30% perlite mixed in.

I think it’s actually more of an overwatering issue as the pots were still heavy, with zero runoffs and the bottoms were wet. So I placed them on metal grills and am hoping it will help.

Hi again!

So, it would appear I didn’t have the full text of your answer and I thought you were being flippant but not at all, so I’m very sorry about my own flippant answer :woman_facepalming:t2:

The patient(s) are now topped and trimmed and we’ll see how things go in the next few days :crossed_fingers:t2:

I uploaded pics with my answer to gruen.

No watering for now, last one was after cutting this morning despite the fact that the pots were heavy and wet on the bottom so I’ll just let them dry some. Next time I water I was planning on no fertilizer as not to brutalize them…

Hi @hoochie34 :smiling_face_with_sunglasses::victory_hand:,

I wouldn’t be a mod here anymore if it always triggered me. But sometimes it’s also on me to be misunderstood here. I’m just a working dad with a passion for growing. For whom it’s always ā€œFamily Firstā€. And sometimes I only send half a message/reply. :face_with_peeking_eye:

But I also unfortunately suspect that something isn’t quite working as it should with the automatic translation engine…

Anyway, the important thing is that things are looking up for your ladies again…

I’ve now calmly read everything through. :eyes:

So first of all, has anything happened with yours yet?

Could it be that the soil is from the hardware store around the corner? These soils can potentially spoil because they are stored outdoors and have gotten too wet. And since we don’t currently have the temperatures for them to dry quickly on the pallet, the soil can already ā€œgo badā€ in the bag. By that I mean that your pre-fertilized soil dissolves the solid fertilizers, cannot break them down, and thus becomes oversalted. This makes the soil very acidic in terms of pH value. And since you also kept the soil nice and moist, a nutrient lockout may have occurred.

My tip would be, even if it sounds paradoxical: I would water carefully until runoff occurs. Measure the pH value and then check. If something isn’t right with it, get pH regulation for soil, you can find it in specialized online stores. :victory_hand:

Hope I could help you. :folded_hands:

On that note,

Hi!

Thanks for the answer and tips. It’s going to be ā€œnighttimeā€ for them in 5min so I’ll try the runoff thing in 6 hours

They’re doing great, I’m glad I topped/trimmed. I probably lost a week with the freak accident but they appear to be growing strong again.

I can’t wait to give them nutrients again but I know I must be a bit patient and try to test the water first and since they don’t drink much right now and I don’t want to risk overwatering, it’ll have to be in a couple of days.

I attached pics of both. One is lopsided but at least I didn’t lose it all completely. Now I’m just worried that with my luck they won’t be females

(Auto translate feature IS a pita for sure)

Thanks again, hoping for more good news later today! :crossed_fingers:t2:

They’re already looking quite good again.
If you add some bloom booster to the water and give them some when watering, they will show their sex shortly after. That also works if you spray the leaves with it. A small tip to avoid wasting time on male plants.

Oooh interesting!

One of those two?

And it won’t stop them growing in this vegetative stage?

Thanks :folded_hands:t2:

I use this one, a bloom simulator, it only contains phosphorus and

Hi there :smiling_face_with_sunglasses::victory_hand:,

That’s the similar one…

On Top Maxx, it says Stimulator, just like on Booster.

Ok @herr_gruen and @Dbe I ran a runoff test for PH and I think I’m around 6-6.5. I’m not certain because mine is a liquid test and as the runoff water was a bit yellow-brown, it’s hard to assess the resulting color after adding the reactive. But I’d say 6-6.5. Not too bad?

I also mixed a drop of the bio-bloom with 5ml of water and dabbed some on the leaves and put the remainder at their feet.

Should I do it more than once? How much/how often? How long until I know more?

I hope they react ok to that much water :face_with_peeking_eye:

Ok once again I didn’t have the whole text, I had to turn on/off translation again and copy paste the full comment (which suddenly appeared) in a translating tool.

I went with the bio bloom one because the ingredient’s are the same whereas the top max one is mainly humic and fulvic acids.

Thanks for the instructions on how to apply/use. I will now wait for them to declare themselves and :crossed_fingers:t2::crossed_fingers:t2::crossed_fingers:t2:.

Thanks!

Once should be enough

I put my fabric pots in a plant saucer and the tilt it with a milk bottle top under the back. I then water till 10-20% runoff every 3 days or so and remove the runoff with a large blunt syringe. It works well at keeping the soil damp and not sodden at the roots. Is your pot in a saucer to remove runoff?

Another question for you Hoochie: what method are you using to measure pH ? I used a cheap probe and paper strips to start and had quite a few pH problems. Then for my 2nd I bought an Apera P20 and it really helps for water/nutrients and runoff. I must say though your plants are looking much better now. Good luck!

Hi!

Thanks for your question. I have them on Ā« grills Ā» I added about a week ago when I realized I was having sodden bottoms. You can see pics of them in the thread.

I didn’t water until runoff until yesterday but I will make a note of doing it at regular intervals

I had a kit with strips from our swimming pool days but I think they were too old and didn’t really react so I didn’t use them. I bought a kit with liquid reactive and color chart, it’s for aquariums but that’s all I could get my hands on.

It seems to be working but I’ll look at what you mentioned

Some News of my ladies.

They’re growing good, tomorrow I’ll top them to go from 2 to 8 colas (well, on one, the other will go from 1.5 to 5 or 6?). I’ve ordered ties to start training them because they’re not flat enough, I procrastinated a bit on that.

I’ve resumed giving fertilizer, still at half dose.

The bloom fertilizer trick didn’t make them change much, I still can’t tell what they are as I don’t really see things at the nodes?

Here are pics of the full plants then closeups, do you see anything?

It’s a bit early for sexing. They will normally show between weeks 4-8 as they mature. You could put them on a 12/12 light schedule and they might show in a week or so. From what I see I would say more than likely it’s a female. Good luck
