You guys have ever bought lights on aliexpress?
I am using this light, but I ain’t sure of how relieabe they are. Since everything is built on China, I wonder if there’s any good manufactures there.

She does look healthy, and ready to move up to her next home. The cool temperatures early really hurt your growth I’m sure. I’ve found the babies like a warm root zone to take off.
Having a ton of cash to start would be nice, but honestly the struggle to improve your grow environment will make you a much better grower in the long run. You’ll make mistakes and learn what works and doesn’t. Hell, it only took me 40 years or so from grow No. 1 outside in 1976, to closets in the 90’s, then tents, etc. to get to where I am today; climate controlled basement with 5x5 flower room, 3x3 backup flower room and 4x4+ veg area, with automated DTW HFF coco/perlite setup. Just a lifelong hobby for me though and the wife says I spend too much time and money on it . . . until I send her to the dispensary a time or two.
What size area are covering with that light?
I’ve heard a lot of people talk about the Shenzen Kingbright Lighting Co. brand as being the best lights for the money available from China. Personally, I have seen one Kingbright LED and it has been doing great for almost 2 years now. A friend ordered it from China and the only issue was shipping took like 6-7 weeks to the US.
This Lights are crap. I have 2 of them they are Not bright enough. Measurement of the 312 Led Version gives with Veg and Bloom on only 30W.
They seem to be healthy and growing fast. Those are about 1 month old.
Hard to tell plant health/color from pics under that light.
Not trying to be negative, but that light is good for maybe one small plant, maybe. China done robbed the world with that junk, false advertising abounds when you deal with them. as @snAke put it light is garbage. 216 Bridgelux SMD 2835 0.2W 3V LED’s, more like 40W. If I apply their math (LED Power: 216X18.51W≈4000W) to my Scorpion Rspec’s chips I have a 32,000W grow light . . . yet HLG and a meter both say it’s a 600W light.
Personally, I spent more $ on garbage lights trying to save when I switched from HID than I eventually spent on the HLG lights I run now.
As for growing fast, I don’t know what your prior growing experience is, but if they were mine and a month old I would think they were stunted, a healthy fast growing plant should easily be double that size at 3-4 weeks depending on method and media. These are 2 Banana Kush, 1 Chempie and 1 Blue Gelato, from sprouted seed in 3 gal pots in a 4x4 at day 28:
Hey @frogyrogy had you used HLG in the past as well? I want to upgrade my light and right now I am using an HLG 550V2 for my 5x5 tent. I want to upgrade to the scorpion r spec. I feel like I may have already asked you, or another grower, but I will as again, how do you like the scorpion? I like how it’s a thin profile light and the fact the hang height is closer too so you can grow tall plants.
Hey! Thank you for your response.
My experience is none, it’s my first try.
I’d buy the best lights in the world if I could. But I can’t afford expensive ones yet.
They look healthy to me, are they?
About their size, I’m using metrics I have seen online.
If you see anything wrong, how can I fix it?
Thank you guys!
Good luck with the Light hunting!! ![]()
I got all stressed out on lights now
I bought two more of those, they costed about $40 each.
When I got those to germinate I didn’t have a proper place for them. They spent most of their time on low temperatures, 60f to 65f, and humidity around 88.
I am still working on a good environment for them. Sadly, I have to move really slow, I am not in the us, and I have to pick if I am buying nutrients, lights or heater. So I am trying to buy them as needed.
Is there any lights you guys recommend?
As for lights, I always recommend HLG, but there are more budget friendly lights out there that seem to do a great job for folks.
@aman_rndhw I have a friend with the HLG 550V2, it was the first HLG product I had firsthand experience with. When I built the 5x5 room I spoke with HLG about the Scorpion Diablo vs Rspec and their suggestion was the Rspec with UVA bar being the better choice since I was setting up a flower only room. I use their Diablo 200 for veg. Then I have a mostly unused backup/spare 3x3 flower closet with a Mars Hydro TSW2000 (which has been a very good light for me) hanging there.
I hope they don’t die
They will likely thank you for both.
I doubt the light’s intensity will hurt them . . . not sure how much IR heat they put off. Have you tried the Photone app to measure PPFD?
Quick tip to check heat: Put your hand, palm down under the center of the light, the same distance as your top leaves. If you feel heat from the light on the back of your hand it’s likely too close.
I actually bought that same light. It’s good for seedlings but that’s about all. Totally worthless. @JustRaf
thats why i upgraded month by month with philips core pro daylight for veg and osram a150 for flower, because of a very low budged.
@snAke I’ve used those type LED bulbs before. You get better light from them if you cut off the plastic diffuser. Shane with Migro has a video where he builds and tests a homemade light using them:
I know, but i need the scattering of the domes, because of the 2 China garbage Lights in the middle. My Plan ist to expand with 8 more bulps in the middle, building a light Board without the China garbage. But for now i have to stay with this.
Next grow will be a sea of Green 8 small pots 4 weeks veg than flower.
After the sea, again 2 big plants, but in 30l or better 40l pots. 20l isnt enough for big photos, i need more space for the roots.
