Sorry no grow log.
Hi
New to this. 2nd plant and it’s looking very sad.
Indoor grow
Plenty of light and air circulation
Unknown strain
Female
60%Medium is Canna Coco
25% perlite
10% worm castings
5% Dr Greenthumbs Bud & Bloom
Started with 5gal pot and Dr Greenthumbs Go & Grow similar mix to above then transplanted to 7 gal fab pot with above mix.
Have given one dry amendments mix (4 cups total of the following) worm castings, bud & bloom, crustacean mix, Azomite & Alfalfa Meal
Also added several batches of Ocean Grown Deep Sea Sugar & Kelp 3mls per liter water & Ocean Grown Fish Hydrolysate 10mls per liter. The later was given over a period of 4-6 weeks.
All was going well until I noticed brown patches on leaves and then a few days later clawed leaves. Tried flushing as it didn’t look like over watering but hasn’t helped. Watering every two days usually with approx 1 liter water. PH of water is 6.1 and soil show roughly same.
Plant has been in flower for about 7 weeks
Can anyone help me here I’m worried it’s root rot (1st plant died from that but I added much better drainage for this plant)
@voicelesspilot , hey buddy. I’m no expert but I’m quite confident she’s bound. What’s your take on this?
[Rootbound]
If a plant stays in the same container for too long, the roots will eventually start wrapping around the edges of the pot. This is known as being “rootbound” and causes symptoms similar to other root problems.
A rootbound plant has been in the same container for too long. Roots wrap around the edges and “choke” the plant.
This cannabis plant needs to be transplanted ASAP, it’s suffering from drooping and leaf symptoms in the flowering stage because its roots are rootbound
Rootbound plants often droop, appear yellow, get nutrient deficiencies, and stay small. Even if you’re caring for them perfectly!
Hi folks and thanks for your interest in my dilemma. I doubt it’s root bound. Pot is fabric 7gal and was transplanted about 1 week before flower. I fear it’s more likely root rot. Plant has been in flower about 7weeks.
Alright sweet, I did notice the fabric pot.. I was just sharing my opinion!
What size pots were they before transplanting? I can’t see how 1L/2day will cause root rot - Depending on the previous pot size
Especially with the substrate you are using it's difficult to overwater
The excess water will drain out the bottom.
Anyways, if you transplanted without loosening the roots to grow outwards again, the plant will just continue to strangle itself, Even if you transplanted into a 100 Gallon pot..
Yeah I get that in the root bound issue and to be thorough, I will check when I’m able to (not for about 3-4 days as i travel for work). From memory the pot has a Velcro seem so it shouldn’t be too demanding on the plant. I’ll post results asap.
Hey everyone. Sorry for the delay in updating. There’s this painful thing I have to do occasionally that really gets in the way of life, work sucks. Anyway, here are some pics of the roots. I cut the pot down the side and had a wee poke around. What do you think here? Everything looks fine to me but I’m no expert. Anything I’m missing here? Plant hasn’t really developed much since last photos. It’s pretty much stalled in flower.
Stop the press! I think I may have discovered my issue. Albeit too late for this plant but at least I have a possible cause and know what to avoid next plant. We have had an abnormally large amount of rain recently (eastern australia) and as a result local councils have more than likely increased (read- definitely) the amount of chlorine in the water as a result of all the excess run off into catchment areas. As I use tap water, I can now assume that I have poisoned my plant with chlorine. Given that the issue started just after the latest rains and floods I am confident this is the main issue. Some reading has shown the same symptoms (with the exception of the clawing) for chlorine OD. Seems this crop will be very minimal but now I have a filter and can be confident there will not be excessive chlorine in my water from now on.
Yeah you are root bound, ph is about right in canna coco ypu want to be 5.5-6.2, i use straight up coco amd since your using perlite to provide the oxygen ypu can water every pther day. When using city water, i let that water sit for an hour or so to burn off the chlorine, there is a de chlorinator you can buy as well. When you flip to flower, you also want to transplant into a bigger cpntainer to ensure she doeant get root bound.
Yeah I do balance to 6.0. I store it in a 20 liter container, balance it and water from that. I already knew the ph levels of our tap water was high (7-8) so I’ve always balances it. Just didn’t filter it with a chlorine filter. Now that I am I still balance ph to 6.0
What makes you say it’s root bound? Just trying to learn the signs. I transplanted from a 5gallon fabric pot to a 7gallon fabric pot, let her adjust for 2-3 weeks the flip to flower. If it is root bound I really don’t know what else I can do to prevent that? Also, to be clear, when transplanting I also play the roots out, free up the ball with my hands gently to allow for growth in the bigger pot. I don’t just drop her straight into a bigger pot and fill up the space with medium.
You should flip to flower after you transplant into your flowering pot. Give 24-hour darkness after transplant to reduce stress and shock. Shes vegging hard and those roots will easily fill that pot and your left with no room for flowering growth. I say she’s root bound due to her sagging down and looking like she’s suffocating herself, if you are in coco it’s nearly impossible to over water as coco is supposed to maintain 50 percent saturation before watering again.
