Hi everyone. Closet grower here using living organics in 7G pots. I am using Promix Veg/Herb with homemade worm castings for humus and perlite in a 33/33/33 mix for my base soil.
I then added oyster shell flour, gypsum, crabshell meal, alfalfa meal, kelp meal, feather meal, neem cake, karanja cake, hi-P bat guano (mineralized phosphate), activated charcoal and malted barley sprouts. I believe that is it. This was left to cook for a couple of weeks. All the amendments were 1 cup per 7 gallons of soil. This is a water-only recipe however I added molasses once during flip and feed fermented banana extract every second watering.
She is standing almost 4 feet high and about 30" at her widest.
I had a previous grow in 15G pots that I was able to run 4 plants through consecutively using a 600w HID but I could not configure my closet to provide the needed ventilation without destructive means. So instead of opting for an A/C unit which may see 1 month of use in a year, I purchased a TS1000. I am impressed enough by this light I can see me getting 1 more for the closet and 1 for my vegging tent.
Itβs funny how I used to live with the annoying noise of an inline fan whereas now I am using a 12v computer fan through a 25β hose and I can keep temps and humidity levels within acceptable range.
Cheers. Just have to figure out how to link my grow logs here.
Thanks. Initial cost was a bit higher but I still have enough amendments left over to do a couple of batches.
Incidentally, the youngest GDP is the second plant to go through that soil. All I have done is pull the main stem off. It will be interesting to see how far I can use it before a need for re-amendment or top dressing.
I had a second clone which I open-pollinated with a male.
Should have enough seeds for practice. I also managed to collect some pollen to use in crossbreeding with the GDP & PP. And so off into the rabbit hole I go.
I can see that this grow is not going as well as I thought. I was expecting denser colas and more trichs. I suspect it was due to root problems. My biggest mistake was in using peat pots to germinate the seedlings in. While it would have been fine had I removed it prior to transplant, I found that the main root never fully develop.
Which would explain the weird and random leaf issues I noticed during the whole period. The whole plant felt unstable when I moved it around. I donβt expect this second clone to be that much better, I decided to defoliate at this late stage.
I am just waiting to get this harvested so I can move the others in to start their proper vegging period. All in all, not a bad grow and a lot of lessons learned along the way.
