Experience/Test

Hello my dear friends :smiling_face_with_sunglasses::victory_hand:,

Today I’m addressing all of you. All who just read along, the new ones, and the old ones :rabbit_face:.

We all constantly think about our equipment. Of course, there are seemingly 1,000,000 and more things for cultivating our ladies. But usually, the really good stuff is in the higher price range. :money_bag::dollar_banknote:
But not everyone always has that kind of money readily available. So, the “McGuyver” - Growling also looks, and especially, for cheaper things. :coin::coin:

This topic should be exclusively about experiences with budget items.
Anything over 50,- € doesn’t fit here. I’ll filter out exceptions myself.
No company names will be revealed, only the product itself is the focus.
Such data can only be requested via PM from the post creator.:smiling_face_with_sunglasses::victory_hand:

And of course, I’ll start: :victory_hand::grin::victory_hand:

First off, I’ve had no problems with germination or rooting cuttings until today.
But recently I saw a pretty cool and affordable solution for all who have problems with that!

There are “Hydroponic seed pots”, which sounded totally interesting to me. So I didn’t think long, and poof. After 9 days of shipping, they were here.

Everything that belonged to it was included. For under 10 €

What? So much for just a few plastic cups?
I hear you say. Sure, we all have them. But, not like this!

So

Water in :droplet:

Soak substrate :rock:

Assemble everything :building_construction:

Put in another small test bean :beans:
(I just made sure that the substrate doesn’t directly touch the water)

And into the tent with it. :tent:
(Of course, with a heating mat for me. :wink::grin:)

Well, oops!!! :eyes:
After 3 days, the seedling was already 3 cm! Cool!! :victory_hand::victory_hand:

But, wait a minute
 :thinking:

If that works with a seed
 :thinking:

Does it also work with a cutting
 :thinking::thinking:

“Don’t talk long - Do it!” :face_with_monocle::index_pointing_up:
Someone who was very important to me once said. :old_man:t3:
So, I just took a cutting from my Strawberry Cough and planted it. Into the tent and wait
 :thinking:

And we wait
 :thinking::thinking::thinking:

 :thinking::thinking::thinking::thinking::thinking:

10 days later, this beautiful root is looking at me!! :hugs:

Just to clarify, I didn’t add anything else besides a bit of quartz sand so the cutting wouldn’t fall over. And regular tap water.

My personal conclusion up to here and today:

(though I’m still testing and experimenting. Towards longevity and other uses.)

For anyone who has concerns with germination and rooting. This is a really good alternative to other / conventional propagation sets. For me, everything fit, everything was there and everything was in great condition.
Personally, I only missed instructions.
(But you have them here now :grin::wink:)

Would I buy this again?
Definitely!!

I hope this topic and post helps you. :blush:

In this spirit, your Dbe

Grow on everyone :smiling_face_with_sunglasses::+1::sign_of_the_horns::victory_hand::ok_hand::cloud::cloud::cloud:

I don’t have experience with cheap grow stuff but I will say my germination is cheaper, I just put it in soil after a paper towel.

The truth is they are really cool.

Funny the little crash helmets!
Indeed, germination works great. It perfectly maintains humidity in the closed system.
The only thing I notice with the clone is that young roots are no longer completely white and already look damaged. They should really be white when still so young.
Maybe you had a little too much water in there?
I think the principle is to swell the soil tabs and then let them drain in the basket so that the few drops at the bottom provide permanent humidity.
Next time with a cutting, leave less water at the bottom.
It looks like the pot was hanging exactly at the water level at the bottom, and that kept the soil too wet.
Otherwise, it does what it’s supposed to.
Nice nice, MacGuyver Dbe.

Oh, my dear @Pflanzenpaul :smiling_face_with_sunglasses::victory_hand:

I think it’s really great that you immediately worry about the little plant! :grin::+1:

But in this case, I was primarily concerned with the

My dear, I know you didn’t have a description, and in principle, this imitates RQS’s seedling playground (germination house) but with a different construction. From that, I knew that the lower part only serves to catch too much water from the soil tab, so the soil isn’t too wet, and the little water at the bottom serves for the correct humidity.
Just wanted to give you the missing description. :joy:

Where is your enthusiasm for beautiful plants here?
Every one has its worth to become beautiful and big, my dear.

But they are worth their money because they do what they are supposed to do, and so, have fun experimenting and good morning. Paule

My wife brought me a humidifier from the city today, just in time for the seedling phase. It cost 2 Euros, the only things needed are a water container, in my case a plastic cup, and a USB plug, which everyone usually has lying around in a cupboard somewhere. I also had a timer switch in the cupboard as a spare, which I’m now using to run it four times a day for half an hour.

Before I started it, the humidity was at 45%, and after 20 minutes, it was at 75%.
