Setting up new grow tent (1.45m W x .80m D, 2m H), Spiderfarmer SF2000 (new version with dimmer), White Widow fem seeds, just need to decide on pots.
I will only grow 2 plants, and I’m interested in fabric pots (GeoPots or similar) as research suggests the roots development is significantly better than plastic pots (thoughts here anyone?).
I’ve read that fabric pots require a much more frequent feeding schedule due to increased drainage. I am hoping to only have to feed every second day at most, will fabric pots require more than this?
I will transplant up through 4 litre, 11 litre then finally to 26 litre pot (apologies to those who use gallons).
Going to order pots in the next few days but was hoping for some input from experienced users first.
Loving being part of the community, hope to share a grow log soon.
Fabric pots are better because they allow more oxygen to the roots, which is why you will have to water more. But you want that. However, the bigger the pot the more water and the more likely you could over water. Imo, I would go from a party cup to a 1 gallon to a 5 gallon for an indoor grow where you would expect to begin flowering at eight weeks.
Thanks for your thoughts here @Outdoorman, I will definitely be going from a Jiffy Pellet to a Solo Cup, then 1 gal transplanter GeoPot, then I figured 4 gal and onto 7 gal for full term growth.
I had been advised to go for a 7 gal plastic pot for full term growth before I started looking into the fabric pots, perhaps I don’t need as much space with the fabric pots because the root distribution throughout the fabric pot is much more evenly spread than with plastic pots? (Thoughts)
I guess my main question is can I feed every second day in a fabric pot with a 50/50 coco/perlite mix? Guessing I would stop feeding as soon as run off is noticeable in the saucer underneath the pot?
I’ve purchased Green Planet Dual Fuel Starter Kit (Base Nutrient + Massive + Rezin).
Anyone have experience with this particular nutrient line?
I cannot answer your feeding question, however if you are going to a 7 gallon pot, consider Jeria fabric pots on Amazon. They are taller and less wide so they will save you some space.
Thanks @Outdoorman, I’ve done a lot of research and am confident I can feed every second day, feed to run-off and take some readings of the run-off.
In fact, I’m going to give the plants just water every third feed to prevent unabsorbed nutrient build up.
Won’t be starting until after Xmas but will definitely start a grow log if you are interested.
Thanks again.
