Hey guys started my first home grow in a vivosun 4’x4’x6’.5". I have 2 waykme 600w LED’s hanging about 7-8" from the top of the plans and spaced about a foot and a half apart. My medium of choice is, Nectar for the gods #4 and I am currently using the fox farm trio for my nutrition. I currently have 3 plants, 1 force kush x blackwater OG, 1 blueberry kush, 1 cherry pie. the plants are all estimated to be about 5 weeks old, I dont know the exact age because I bought them from a local grower already started. They seem to be thriving and other than a little wind burn, and a few leaf mutations everything is fine, I’m a little confused on how long to veg my plants and as to why they are only about 2/3 feet tall? And weather or not to use the veg and bloom light, just the veg, or just the bloom?
5 weeks old sounds right for the height without topping or training. Your setup and soil sounds good, during veg state you should use veg setting for your lights and when they show preflowers they are considered ready to flower when your ready assuming they are photo period plants, auto flowers do exactly as they say they convert to flower automatically when they are mature enough. With the size tent you have I wouldn’t let them get any taller than 4 1/2 ft tall because when you flip them over to flowering they will stretch quite a lot depending if they are indica or sativa. Indica tends to stretch less then sativas do. The first 3-4 weeks of flower they can stretch anywhere between 50-200% fast and if you run out of headroom for the lights you’ll have to super crop or lose out on some yield, possibly have to cut off some of the tops which you don’t want! Low stress training is always a better way to even out the canopy and get them fanned out enough to make sure the plants receive even light across the canopy vs just the cola. You could always top them and the will stop growing upwards for a couple weeks and grow bushier and produce more bud sites in the meantime. Hope this sums it up for you and any questions you have fire away, we’re all here to help each other, haven’t met a person on here that will point you the wrong direction. Welcome to the community @kalinthehippie!
thank you @209MIKE I appreciate the knowledge.
Welcome to the community @kalinthehippie. Really nice setup you have there.
Indoor growing I would veg them as long as the ceiling of your indoor let you. The bloom is for the flowering stage.
I always go for twice the size of the vegetation stage. When I believe the plant has reached that height that if I double the size, I’d be close to touching the lights, that’s when I flip to flower
Well, if this is your first grow, I have to say you are very well equipped! But I guess you have to think that the plant in the flowering stage (it varies if indica or Sativa) also grows. So it depends how much space left you have in your indoor for the plant to grow. I think for this one, by being your first grow and the plants are already 3 feet, I would change it to flower now. And consider as well the light schedule and fertilizers! The most important thing is that you need to have fun with it and enjoy it! Keep us updated!
@Mauri1981 I did a ton of research as well as asked a few growers for equipment they thought would be good but not to expensive, thank you for the info
Hi @kalinthehippie, welcome to the community, it’s @209MIKE and the guys in the office community are great to have for advice,
I’m only newbe to, well on my second run,
Well wish you happy growing bro
I am on my first grow too. I used both veg and flower all grow long. Plants seem fine. One of my two plants had a big preflower stretch.
