Good day guys n gals…help is needed for growing…I live in South Africa,KZN,Ladysmith…I grew my first trees last season…a white widow, a bubbleberry glue and a bubblegum…2 out of 3 trees failed…badly…my bubblegum came out okay…tried my best to harvest and cure it correctly…This season i want to try again but I need help… I started germinating some bubblegum seeds which i kept… I think I figure out how to get my seeds to be female… i have been trying a few techniques during this winter break… But i need help when it comes to verifying the different stages…especially veg and flowering and when to harvest… Please
Hi @skatman and welcome to the community. Have a look at this article The Cannabis plant life cycle - Cannabis stages week by week . It is a good resource for identifying the different stages of growth. To my understanding there is no way to get your seeds to be female. Either they are or they aren’t. You can increase your chances greatly by purchasing feminized seeds but even then there is no guarantee. Then on top of that there is the chance a plant may become a hermaphrodite due to stress that it experiences throughout the grow. Hope that helps a bit and good luck.

hey. …I have been experimenting and have planted a lot of trees in solo cups…i first started with 2 trees they both turned male😠…moved on to 4…all signs were good until 1 turned male n ruined all the others…so i poured a shot of gympies(420 infused gin) n i got thinking…planted 4 again but only covered 2 with a plastic bottle…the 2 uncovered turned male n the 2 covered r female…so i planted 4 again n covered all…all 4 were female…they grew covered for 2 months n now is in a healthy veg state…
Well. I don’t know what to think or say about your experiment @skatman . It’s definitely interesting. Are there any “stressors” that may have affected the uncovered plants? Or maybe its just a lack of humidity where you live and that was stressing out the uncovered plants? I’ve read that stress can cause a plant to change sex or hermie. Whatever the cause, based on the data available it looks like you have found a method that will increase your chances of growing females so go with it.
