HELP! What is happening here?

Indoor grow using Fox Farm Trio for supplements, along with Cal-Mag and some General Hydroponics Micro. Water is pH from 5.8-6.4.

The strain is Royal Runtz from Queen Seeds growing in Coco/perlite mix with earthworm castings. I learned from round 1 that these girls tend to be hungry. So I have been feeding every other watering.

This is my second run with these girls (clones from the original run). I just recently transplanted to 3 gallon pots and 2 plants started to show necrosis on the leaves shortly after transplant. Not sure if this is a deficiency or nute burn.

I have flushed the plants and am waiting for them to dry out before adding more nutrients.

Let me know what you think.

Looks like a calcium deficiency to my eyes. Not seen it that bad so not 100% but you just need to make sure your input solution is around 6.5 (if in soil) and you are feeding sufficient calcium, obviously lol. If you’ve been feeding at less than that, you probably have a touch of lockout. CA needs 6.5+.

Nute burn you can tell by the leafs - look at the tips, is there any “burn” ie discoloration? If so then the plants are at their limit. If not, keep adding moretil you do, then dial it back a touch.

Thanks for the help. I am growing in coco coir but I am going to try upping my pH. It is the only thing I haven’t done. Soil pH is right around 6.5. Had some deficiencies on the last run but nothing this bad.

you’re PH is way out of wack. coco aim for 5.8-5.9 but dont go over 6 or you will run into lockout.

Thats your issue mate, you mentioned you are running coco+perlite which you treat as hydro not soil. 5.8-5.9 is the PH you need to aim for, if you go over 6 you will run into major lockouts and cause it to eat itself.

Growing in coco you are soilless. Nutrient ph range should be 5.8-6.0 and the media will fall in line with proper feedings. Monitoring EC runoff is a more reliable way to manage coco . . . if runoff ec is high (300+ above input value) you can increase the volume or number of daily feedings to bring it down. If it sticks at +400 a timed flush can be done with half strength nutrients to reduce ec. Use a flushing agent or plain water if you have lockout.

Do you buffer your coco before using it?

I don’t recommend adding worm castings or other “soil” amendments to your soilless grow. Worm castings are naturally ph 6.5-7 and act as a buffer

Nutrients in all water, feed to 20% or more runoff.

You don’t need the big containers . . . 1-2 gallon pots are easier to manage and will support a large plant to harvest.
