A little over 3 weeks in veg. Feel like I’m off to a really slow start for some reason. First time in coco, any suggestions?
Are you feeding at full strength?
Yeah, just cranked that up last week. Im not sure if I’m trippin or if they seem way slow lol
This is just my opinion but you lose a lot of the advantages of growing in coco by bottom feeding . . . if you treat coco like dirt it will perform like dirt. Treat it like hydro and you’ll see hydro like results.
Did you properly buffer your coco?
Seedlings should be fed a lowered EC mix at first, increasing by about 100 EC every other day until you reach full strength.
If you’re looking to maximize your results in coco, look into a HFF/DTW system and feed multiple times a day.
Also your pots are huge . . . more difficult to maintain proper feeding . . . a 1 liter pot is more than enough for small plants. Flower in 1-2 gallon pots.
Use plastics, not the grow bags. You want to keep healthy roots . . . not “air prune” the ones that go looking for nutrients. Plastics also flush and drain better and help keep a cleaner grow room.
I buffered it, slowly increased nutrient to full strength and just hit that last week. You think I’m better off with soil consdering my setup? Do they look small to you for 3 weeks in veg? I’m on that learning curve right now so appreciate the guidance!
You should do fine with your current setup . . . coco is generally very flexible and I think you’ll likely be happy with the end results.
In my opinion, if you plan to run coco in the future it would benefit you to think like hydro with drainage, reservoirs, pumps, timers, etc. It’s in these type systems that coco really excels. If your grow space doesn’t allow for it or you prefer to stay with the bottom feed setup I think you’ll see roughly equal results from coco or soil.
Got it. Unfortunately, I’m kinda stuck with what I got space wise. Good to know that I should see equal results. I’m gonna flush the reservoirs today and give it a fresh dose of full strength to get them to take off
Phones busted from having to leg it through the Strom an hail to my car on sunday, just made a temp account for now, temps got up to 36°c yesterday and humidity 30 worst day yet I think so dry an hot the girls handled it well, week 5 today, I’ll post pics shortly, I think I may have some foxtailing going on.
Does look like some foxtailing but not the end of the world. Had that 2 grows ago
Ok, so gave an extra kick of some fresh nutrients, cranked up the ppfd to 650, and did a little defoliation to see if I can get them to take off a bit. The roots are already into the reservoir and look pretty healthy so that’s a good sign. They just seem really small and bushy and this is the first time I’ve had that happen but I guess it’s my learning curve in coco lol
Both do look genetically prone to foxtailing anyway from what I’ve seen from outdoor an indoor grow diaries and pics from exotic genetics with the cosmopolis so was never worried about it an I don’t mind it’s still looking so good and smells insane now.
Noticable thickness like every day and pistils starting to orange, the thick coat of trichome on the leaves increasing day by day so cool to see, few more weeks and I think I’ll be ready for harvest.
Foxtailing is just a gift of more bud, just a pain to trim imo.
It could also just be genetics. My current grow all but 1 are smaller than normal. I know nothing has changed with how I do things so it has to be genetics.
Getting closer to harvest getting excited as, hopefully ready in the next 3 weeks or so if I’m lucky haha, gotta get a jewelers loupe or something tomorrow I think.
A Mate of mine bought one of these the other day, after playing around with it for a while I can’t recommend it enough. Soooo much easier to see what I’m looking at than using a loupe these days
I was actually just thinking about getting one of these this arvo instead hahaha.
True, this is also the first indica dominant strain I’ve ever grown so that could be it as well!
