Hello everyone ive been asked as well as curious myself of how to grow a mother plant for cloning.
If you have any knowledge on how to begin, feeding guidline,lighting/hours on/off, ect. And other things we should be aware of or may help. Thanks in advance for any info shared
Hello Smokey101!
I think that taking care of mothers is quite similar to plants in the vegetative stage. They need the same lights, the same nutrients, the same air. But you will have to be careful with the places where you choose to make the prunings because that is what gives her the structure. Besides, once a month she will need root pruning.

I think it’s even more important to have stable genetics for a mother plant. In best case you want to have a mother from regular seeds. And you should also scrog and train her a lot, so she produces many potential clones. And when you cut the clones off, leave a few nodes where she can continue growing from.
Most important are good stable genetics! If you don’t have them your mother plant will most likely start tripping after a couple months.
I have to restart with a new mom. Because I’ve used cheap feminized seeds. And the mom became pretty sensitive to all kinds of stress. Like not having enough light on the lower branches made her quickly throw of all the leaf’s on them.
I might try what he does in minute 05:34, next year and grow a mother only for the beginning.
But I also want to dig into tissue culture. So I’m not really sure yet how my cycles will work and how I’ll take my clones.
I’m also still in the process of learn and optimizing…
Good luck!!
Much respect for the info an video thank you bud
Yes many thanks, i have been doing quite a bit of reading about it and opinions are mixed, especially in regards to how many clones can you take before the genetics start to degrade. I totally agree about the seeds. I wanna clone the best possible plant so start with the best seed 4 sure. Im gonna start like 5 of a strain i love and just experiment, I enjoy the process and just like to see what happens! Im currently messing around with just all kinds of different growing styles, training, mediums etc. Figure out what works best for me and my situation rather than trying to force a certain style to my needs. I work 13.5 hour shifts at the hospital so im gone 16 hours straight so im trying to be somewhat careful. I increased my lights and came home to some wilting and felt like a shitty parent
