Keeping cannabis as a house plant?

Hello everyone!

Other than consuming cannabis I really like the plant itself, it’s beautiful!
So my question is : Is it possible to keep a cannabis plant like a house plant for years ? Just for the pleasure of my eyes when I go to the kitchen :cowboy_hat_face:

Thanks!

I’m with you in enjoying cannabis as a plant in itself and not just consumption of its’ fruits. I’ve read of people keeping mothers for a long time as well as those who do bonsai trimming to control the size. That would be something I could get into as well.

I would love to do it! I’m just not sure on “how”, I’ll see if I can find any tutorial about it :eyes:

Could you post an update if you do it yourself? :cowboy_hat_face: It would be interesting to see!

Seems like I read something from Ed Rosenthal about a professional cultivator in Europe who kept a mother plant for like over 10 years.

From what I’ve read, it’s a matter of trimming the roots and replanting deeper than it originally was. The topside of course gets the training.

That looks doable, but how can you manage to keep her in vegetative mode? And could you send the link if you find it?

Thanks :cowboy_hat_face:

Thanks for the link @Outdoorman! And @canagen maybe we could move it away from the light on time every day! :cowboy_hat_face: Would the indirect sunlight still provide a healthy mother? Would the normal room light be too much for her? Also, the Bonsaï method looks awesome!

As long as their daylight is 18+ hours, they will remain in veg which leaves out autos. But the light would have to be of sufficient intensity so that flowering is not triggered. I had my current GDP by the window sill thinking the street lights and other external building lights would not trigger the flowering period but by the time I had space in my tent, she had flowered enough to develop heavy pistils then re-vegged then flowered again. As a result, GDP gone wild and stretched right out.

You can see it here.
