Leaves curling up on themselves

Hi all ! I have just returned home and when I proceed to observe my plant I saw that some of its leaves were curling up on itself. I have read a lot of things on the internet but given that the causes can be multiple I would like to have your opinion. I watered the plant for the last time last Monday, could it be from over-watering on my part? Frankly, I’m a bit lost and it worries me a bit. Can you help me?

Here are some pictures of the leaves!

No I haven’t had any news

Hi @Morty , you are right, there are a few things that can cause this. So only you can identify why, with knowing your environment and grow medium and how wet the soil is.

Is it your Temperature?
Cannabis leaf edges may wrinkle and become dry/crispy and curled if your temperatures get too high . In hot conditions the leaf cells transpire water faster than it can be supplied, resulting in unusual leaf curling. Reduce your grow room temperature with additional extraction or air-con if available.

Watering, if anything I guess under watering…

Underwatering

Underwatering causes symptoms that often look like overwatering, but you’ll know it’s underwatering if the plants perk up each time after you water them.

Soil: it could be your soil.

Bad Soil / Overwatering / Underwatering

You can help prevent over and under-watering your cannabis plants by always starting with good soil or coco coir.

Bad Soil

Bad soil is usually thick and muddy. Plants in poor soil will droop (often with unhappy curly leaves) no matter your watering practices.

Avoid thick soil that stays wet for a long time and doesn’t drain well

Looking at the soil it is in, I think that is the issue… I don’t see any perlite in there. I think you should transplant her into a new container with good soil.

Hi ! I don’t think it’s related to too high temperatures because I leave it outside and the temperature does not exceed 25 degrees in the sun.

This morning I watered my plant and it hasn’t necessarily changed, in the sense that the leaves are as before and still a little curled up.

Now that you said it, it’s possible the problem is with my floor. I only put my plant in potting soil with very little perlite because I couldn’t find any in stores. If it comes from the lack of perlite I will consider ordering some on the internet as soon as possible.

Since I plan to change the soil of my plant, how would you advise me to prepare it so that my plant feels good in it?

Does your local garden or hardware store not sell Pro-Mix HP? It is pretty common and good for cannabis. It doesn’t have any nutrients in it, just MYCORRHIZAE for root development.

or any Cannabis soil… it will have a mix of perlite and other stuff.

I quickly looked on the internet and very few stores sell PRO-MIX HP MYCORRHIZAE in my country, but I should be able to have some delivered. If I can’t find any, do you think simple potting soil from a garden store mixed with perlite would work?

Hi @Morty the best soil is the one that doesn’t contain soil also called “soilless”. The optimal substrate is composed of sphagnum peat mixed with perlite, to which you can add earthworm humus and coconut fiber and enrich it with mycorrhizae. Any grow shop can supply you with the product you are looking for.

Most soils, will work, the difference is the amount of work and time you need and have to put in. Living soils are my preferred method. Other than that ill just double down on dirt!

Like @Rasta_Free-Man said Mycorrhizae is awesome! It will add some super helpful lil organisms to yer soil, but try to avoid chemical ferts as that’ll kill em off typically if I recall.

You can also look for just mycorrhizae online or in stores. I got a lil bag of it from, Down to Earth, slowly adding it to all my old dead soils along with some new life!

If yer curious, look at DIY supersoils and living soils, some can work out pretty easily from local grow stores and garden centers and couple cherry picked amendments and you could have some pretty descent soil at the end of the day.

At the end of the day, this lil weed grows just about anywhere and anyway. Try what feels comfortable to you and what you think will work best, no one way is right and they are way easier to grow than id ever have imagined.
