The none CO² numbers in that chart seems to be more like an eco lighting… Good luck next time and make sure you have all you need before you start.
Personally I use a 25 watt permsquare foot rule, between 20-30 watts per square foot of grow space. So a 2x4 tent is 8 sq.ft. So it’s 200 watts needed so I’d get 2 100 watt lights
I got this one on the way…it’s 12x12(inch) 35w w/ 1000w luminous efficiency…red , orange ,blue and white lights.
I’m only thinking about a 2x2x6 or 2x3x6 just enough to have 2 kush auto in 5 gallon buckets staggered over the winter going.
Sorry didn’t know the QR code would show up in the pic
I’ve been doing some reading and…if I’m wrong please correct me…but during germination , seedling and veg I use mainly blue light and some red then during flower I switch to more red and less blue???
Or since I’m going to be doing Purple Kush autos does it matter?
I’m going to have them on a 18/6 the whole time and just want to be sure I understand correctly before I start. This was one of my major mistakes I made in the beginning and want to do better. Any advise would be great.
I’m not familiar with those kind of lights, so I would personally turn them all on and make the lights as dim as possible after germination, and increase the light intensity when I feel my plants need it. 18/6 is correct for autoflower.
Hello! It is true that during the vegetation stage, plants consume more light from the blue spectrum, and during flowering, they use more from the red spectrum. But since yours is automatic, I’m not sure. Perhaps I would go for the full spectrum throughout the grow.
That’s what I read !!!
But since I’m doing autos like you said and going to have them staggered so full spectrum 18/6 is the best option for me I think .
Another question…
I’m using the Photone app and playing around with it.
I got real interested in DLI , set it for 18 hours then checked my grow room under the FSLED then checked outside under the full sun setting at the same 18 hours.
Now to my surprise they were not far off from each other. Im going to keep checking outside at different times to see how much of a difference it is outside during the day.
My question is if I can average my FSLED in my room to the changes outside during the day , would that be enough light for autos under an 18/6 schedule?
Yeah! 18 hours of light is enough, especially if it is natural light. There is no lamp that has the same light spectrum as sunlight, yet.
True about lamps not available that simulate sunshine.
It’s just if I set Photone for DLI measurement at 18 hours and use the full spectrum setting on the bottom and check the light in my room it’s 5.0 …
If I change from full spectrum to direct sunshine at 18 hours still on DLI it averages right around 5.0-5.5 for the entire day which is what I have constantly for the 18 hours under LED lighting.
Now to my thinking if I can artificially create an 18 hour average that would be better.
If not I need another light or two to get the correct PPFD or lower my light to about 10 inches from the plants so I’d need one for each plant.
Does that make sense?
The PPFD at 30 inches is only 60 and I’ve read it needs A LOT more…or am I misunderstanding this?
You are correct that the plants need more light. In flower you want between 600-1000 ppfd for the plants. If you are supplementing co2 you can go as high as 1200-1500 ppfd. Happy growing.
@Demonrage75
I know and the only way I can reach those amounts is with another 5 lights.
I’m going to have 3 different plants in different stages at the same time… Start one 40-45 days later start another then another 40-45 days later.
Right now at 30 inches I’m only getting 60 PPFD but a 50 LED DLI for 18 hours and when I checked the SUNSHINE DLI it averages 55 DLI over the course of a day. So I’ll actually be giving more LED DLI than the sun DLI. ( I actually need to where sun glasses in my grow room while working on it)
Im only doing autos for now to get more experience but this lighting is getting me seriously confused.
It’s confusing because I have to wear sunglasses in my grow room for 5 minutes but can work 10 hours outside without them:person_shrugging:
Alo Papakat420!!
I understand that the theory is correct, it makes sense that the distance affects the use of light that you provide to the plants. But the smaller the distance, the less surface they cover, so you may need to add an extra lamp. What I can’t answer are the calculations, but I’m sure you’ll find an older post to help you if you look up PPDF with the magnifying glass (top right).
It’s ok…I found an $800 light that has a dimmer and able to provide over 1000 PPFD at full strength on ceiling in a 6 x 6 x 6 , so I guess it will be fine for my 3 x 4 x 6.
I’ve read so many articles and posts I’m just getting more and more confused… especially when it’s brighter in my grow room and I need to wear sunglasses in it than it is outside in full sun and don’t need sunglasses.
It’s brighter in my grow room than outside.
I was able to get a 120 PPFD at 30 inches by adding another light but it’s orange, red, blue and white together and depending on how fast growth is i might be fine during seedling and early veg until my new light gets here in about two weeks.
I can’t get above 400ppfd unless I get real close to the light , but I can feel heat on my hand about 4-6 inches away from the lights and don’t want to take a chance in burning them.
Am I right? I really don’t know ?
Here’s what it looks like inside.
So u want 25 w per sqft. So 6x6 is 36, 36x25= 900’watts. So I need a 900’watt light for that area.
It’s a 3x4 and running on 4 different lights for now until my 1000w gets here
3x4=12x25=300. So I’d get like 2 150watt lights. But u got this. Just givin my knowledge on the coverage. Honestly I’d get a long HPS light possibly, as LED idk if are made that long.
Grow Light F1000 Series 3 x 3ft Coverage Dimmable Samsung UV IR Grow Lamps for Indoor Plants
This is the one I ordered , I know it says 3x3 but I have other lights I can use to supplement the extra foot. But I’m only growing one indoors right now to see how they grow…my first indoor and auto…
I might not need to do more than one at a time since it’s just for personal use but won’t know until I harvest it. I got one outdoors that will be ready in about 4 weeks to harvest , maybe a little longer but not much…I think

@Yvngstonie
I didn’t mean to come across short if I did I had just got home and was itching like crazy from work and heading to the shower.
See if it’s what I think it is, you have 100 watt light. So yeah you will need 3. But you could get 2 400 watt lights instead but she looks ok
