If you don’t have a growlog please answer these questions.
What strain are you growing? Is it Auto, Fem or Reg?
Are you growing Indoor or outdoor?
Are you using nutrients? Which ones? How much?
Yesterday i transplanted one plant to a bigger pot. In the evening it was fine. But now its totally like dead. Please view the picture. I would like to know the best tips for transplant ing the plant to bigger individual pots. Thanks in advance.
I always start my seeds off in a coconut coir pellet then I plant the whole thing in the final pot when I see the roots just starting to poke through.
Means I don’t disturb the root system or risk snapping/bending the stem when I’m handling the plant. she recovers.
From next time I will do this when I grow new plant now. Perhaps, what should i do now? As the plants are growing and i am worried the stems might break due to wind. Therefore, kindly suggest me should i transplant all the plants right now in individual pots or should i wait till the plant gets bigger and stems get stronger. If yes then please suggest the best way of transplanting the plant as i am scared i might break the roots. Please view the picture and thanks for the reply and your help.
It seems like you’re using the wrong substrate. Even if you’re doing everything right during transplant, if your roots can’t get enough oxygen and retain a good humidity your plant isn’t going to grow correctly. As suggested, use a better medium like coconut noir, if possible transplant again to something better and use wind shields like cardboard or something to protect the plant.
@Vick yeah I would transplant now before the roots of each individual plant get too entangled. Depending on how solid they are in there I would just try and very carefully use a trowel to get them out individually.
I agree with @FAQUE too - make sure the plants have got room for their roots to breath by adding perlite or something to your soil mix - and if it’s windy then the cardboard box wind break seems like a great idea.
Carefully slide the entire load of soil and roots out of the pot and get the hose out and spray gently to remove the soil and it makes separating them much easier and better on the plants than you going in blind with tools.
Ok. I transplanted one plant to a separate pot. Will share a pic later. Should i properly wet the plant before taking them out. Also can anyone share a video link on transplanting?
You usually want to use wet soil in the new pot and dry soil in the old pot as you’re supposed to remove the whole root ball, but since you have all the plants together you should make it wet before transplanting to make it easier to work with, or you risk damaging the roots. You might also want to consider adding some mycorrhizae spores when transplanting, as they help the roots. Use a lot of water and remove them from the sun for a couple days.
Thanks for the info. Now tomorrow morning I will transplant my plants one by one. Can you also suggest me the grow light color to use, right now i am using blue led. Any suggestion will be helpful. Also one of my plant leaves are curling up inwards just today. Do i need to use any kind of fertilizer to rectify the problem or just wait for them to grow.
Im new to all this as well, just flipped our girls to flower. Our light has 2 buttons on it, one for veg and one for bloom. When it was on veg, the light was more of a blueish color, but when we switched it to bloom, my tent looks like the gates of hell!
But my other plants in the old pot are doing ok, I guess. Please let me know how they look. Today most probably i will ask someone who is a bit professional type in gardening to transplant the pots to individual pots. I am worried on how to transplant them and happy to see them grow.
How to know if my plants are lacking any nutrient. I have a soil meter with me to check the ph value but i still feel that my plants are not happy. Coz there are some yellow coloring on the edges of the leaves that i am worried of. Also how can i check on fertilizer need of the plant. Forgive me for sounding confused since I am first time grower that’s why feeling little frustrated and confused. So any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance everyone.
Hey @Vick I understand the confusion and the worry! We’ve all been there!
What type of soil are you using? As mentioned before it looks quite heavy and dense.
Generally speaking your plant will tell you if it’s missing something nutrient wise in any number of ways. If there’s something in particular that’s worrying you best to snap a pic of it and post it so people can get a real good look at it.
As a general rule you want to increase the amount of nutrients you give the plant as it grows and is able to use them - starting from no nutrients as a seedling.
At the end of the day it’s all a learning experience and you’ll get better with each grow you do.
Also he told me that there is lot of fertilizer in them, therefore, he potted them with just soil and told them to just keep them like this for 4 or 5 days.
I wanted to ask that can i keep my plants indoor under grow light after 5 pm and let them stay indoor only for dark period of 6 hours and take them outside next morning in sun.
Please suggest. Your help is very much appreciated. I am lucky to have found you guys for help. Thank you soooo much everyone for their help and guidance.
They should be much happier in homes of their own so that is a good start. And yes you could definitely do what you said with moving them inside to get a full 18 hours of light.
As said earlier, that soil doesn’t look good for cannabis plants. Please buy somethink specially marked as soil for cannabis growth.
As for the sad looking plants, that’s because they’re under direct sunlight, give them some shadow after transplant. They can’t absorb the water because there is too much sun and the soil is too compact.
The burned edges of the leaves is because they are lacking a nutrient called potassium. A good soil should have a nice ammount of potassium, so again you’re using the wrong soil for cannabis cultivation. Sorry for sounding like a broken record.
