My plant is starting to look healthy after I’ve placed it in an indoor environment with a full spectrum 600w led light, but I notice that some of my leaves are smaller than others. Is there anything I can do to make sure light is evenly getting to all sides of my plant? I know you can train your plant but the plant that is growing the most seems to far along to be doing any training. It’s currently at 17 tall. Thanks in advanced
I would leave them alone as the plant will make some use out of it.
You can still train this plant by putting in a dog-leg like this:
Start of LST:
Shows you how supple the stem is. Initial bend was done in one shot.
Three days later:
Same plant today:
With seedlings and young plants, it is best to follow a wet/dry cycle in watering. If you wait just before you water, you can feel the stem’s suppleness and bendability. Wait a little bit longer and you should be able to make a 90 deg. bend without harming the plant. It shouldn’t take too much pressure to start the bend. You would need to counteract the bend with an anchor point on the opposite side. Water your plant and the stem will firm up again and continue growing.
Don’t be alarmed if they droop a bit. But you should see improvement over the next few hours, assuming they get proper lighting. And if the stem does snap, simply tie it back together to make sure the cut is covered up and leave it alone. It will form a knuckle and heal itself.
These plants are very resilient to some abuse. I’ve split a main stem when I first tried LST and the plant survived.
HTH.
The lights were too far and the plant stretched to reach for it, ending on a very thin stem.
Place the light closer to the plant. I think you could do some training but the stem and branches are too thin for that, maybe you’ll break it if you are not really careful.
Another option for you is to start with a new bean then you can practice cloning with this plant. Just an idea…
