Seedlings stop growing right after germination

On a side note, are your seeds old? I had the same issue recently when I tried to start some old seeds to grow outdoors with. This was the first time I’ve had seedlings stall out as well.

Lmao I never pH, just straight tap

I think we’re the lone wolves on that one

Lol your not alone. I havent ph water since switching to organic dry nutes. Since im feeding the soil and not the plant initially and microbes breakdown better in a 7-8ph range i stopped bothering phing a few grows ago and so far so good without any lockout issues or buildups

Good to hear! I’m just too lazy and haven’t ran into any issues so it’s ideal

Not judging you my good sir just making an observation what soil are you using??

And what are your temps?? This honestly looks like either a heat issue or a humidity problem or your lights to high.

I would ditch the demineralised water, it gives absolutely nothing besides moisture and add a small dose of nutrients to the water. The yellowing can easily be caused by an overall lack of nutrition. A lot of the time a seedling can get through the first 2 weeks by itself with no food but you won’t get that long with demineralised water because everything the plant can usually absorb has been stripped out of it.

I do have that doubt, but the thing is, the plants I successfully grew before were watered with demineralized water from start to finish, and everything went fine.
I also tried using demineralized water with added CalMag, to make up for the lack of minerals, but the result was exactly the same.
I even tried using tap water left to sit for 24 hours — same outcome.
Maybe the humidity dome, but honestly, I had never used one before these recent failures, where I’ve been trying everything to figure things out.
In any case, there’s an automatic humidifier in the grow box that keeps the humidity stable within about 5% of the level I set, so there shouldn’t be a major difference whether I use the dome or not (I think).

In theory, no — I bought them from the RQS website just a few months ago.
I also had the exact same problem with some clones I purchased, already grown and well-rooted: they looked super strong and healthy when I got them, and just a few days after bringing them home — they died.
It honestly feels like there’s a curse D’:

No worries, and sorry — it’s just that this whole situation is really getting to me, haha.
I love this world and I love my little plants, and seeing them die every time fills me with sadness and frustration because I just can’t figure out why.
Anyway, I’m using TERRA SOIL, a soil that’s sold in all the main grow shops — it should be decent (maybe not exceptional, but definitely not low quality either).

Now that the warmer season has arrived, temperatures never drop below 25°C and never go above 30°C.
A few months ago, they were even lower (around 22–26°C), and the results were exactly the same.
The only real ā€œtemperature swingā€ happens when the lights turn on or off, which causes a small change in the temperature reading from the thermometer placed near the plants.

As for the lighting, in theory, using the PHOTONE app, the values are within the correct range for seedlings.
I’m also following the light manufacturer’s guidelines (MarsHydro) for distance and intensity.

What’s strange is that every time, as soon as the seedlings break through the soil, they start ā€œstretchingā€ like the light is too far away, but shortly after, they begin to yellow — as if the light were too close (wtf!).

Do you think it could be the seeds?
Yet I had the exact same issue with two clones that were super healthy when I got them — after just a few days: yellowing, stunted growth, and then death.

The problem must be one of these three things: water, light, or humidity.

Question: since newly sprouted seedlings absorb a lot of moisture from the air (if I’m not mistaken), and I use distilled water in the humidifier to keep it cleaner, could it be that the seedlings are also absorbing that distilled water through their leaves?
And could that be causing a problem?
It sounds crazy, but at this point, I’m starting to question everything.

Foreal that could be it I would say just rule out each factor from temps to humidity to water change each one wait a few days and if you don’t see a change fluctuate on each issue it could be. Heck I just had an auto that should have had at least 20 days left on it bug out on me because I added too much water I drowned her pretty bad.

I use distilled when I use a humidifier too

I think it’s your soil. You said soil with added perlite. Straight from the backyard, soil?

I use this one — it’s sold as professional soil for growing and is available in all the grow shops in my area.

Today I had to kill them. When I took them out of the soil, I saw that the roots hadn’t grown at all — barely anything. No wonder they weren’t developing. And it’s always like this.

Is there anyone here using the MarsHydro TS1000 who can share how they use it?
What kind of issues could a seedling this small possibly have?

I gave them very small amounts of water at a time using a dropper, so I don’t think it’s a watering issue (I talk about quantity)… which makes me think it might be the light?
Even though it doesn’t really make much sense.

Would there happen to be an NPK ratio number on that soil bag? I ask because even though companies make soil mainly for cannabis it could still be to rich in npk making your soil ā€œhotā€ and the babies just cant handle it at times. As for light if your following the ppfd chart for ts1000 and have it at 12 inches and 25%power you could always raise the light to 14 or 16 inches and see how seedling react to it. Also i know this has got to be frustrating for you but im glad your continuing to fight through it. By chance is foxfarm happy frog soil available where you live? I use this soil from seedling to flower and have grown a bunch of differnt strains with it and never a to high in nutrient type of soil also pretty cheap for a small bag like $12 at a store or $17 on amazon maybe but it may be worth giving it a go for your seedlings and then transplant into the soil ya got. Lots of great soil out there but i use foxfarm for few years now and no complaints about it. Hope you continue to fight through the issue and we are always here to help bud
