Ok, I had this beautoful seedling going. noticed leaves were drooping and cup was heavy. So waitied til it dried. Throughout the day, i noticed leaves were not only moist/wet but shrivelling. still left unwatered. Next day, its still shriveled but dry and cup is still heavy. Something is def wrong. I always have a few seed germinating, just in case. I took out this seedling to look at the roots, what do i have to lose. Seedling is dying right now. Hoping i dont have bugs. I flip the cup to take a look at the roots. I noticed white fuzz along the stem. Possible mold, but how? I dig deeper and find a piece of painters tape wrapped around the stem. i have used a piece of thid to fix my first seedlings. But those got thrown away. This was a new cup, new soil and a just germinated seed, that was just planted. Log even shows from seed to shriveled. tape location was 3 to 4 fingers down from top of soil. Im tripping. sadly, had to get rid of her and wait for one to finish germinating. Sorry, thought i would share this bizarre experience
Veeery weird, the soil is from a good source? I am from Argentina, once I bought a local brand and I found a AAA battery in the mixβ¦
pretty good source. the rest of my plants are doing great and thriving. It was only this one. Ouch, a battery, couldve leaked acid. luckily you caught that. Mine was being suffocated. I have another full bag, gonna look through it before this time haha
That white fuzz on the seedling is totally normal! It appears on mine at times some much hairier than others. This isnβt anything to worry about and isnβt mold.
Ive had seedlings that looked like tarantulas! Some pics would help!
I took a look at your grow journal to see how your seedlings were looking.
I believe your issue is due to poor soil drainage. Your soil looks to be very compact and I see little to no perlite.
You are most likely causing Overwatering by having poor drainage. Water cant flow through fully and is ending up sitting stagnant. Stagnant water leads to root rot, root rot leads to death.
I would back off the waterings and keep them very light for now. Once the seedlings bounce back Id recommend transplanting them into soil with adequate drainage and aeration.
Hope this helps!
