I learned a lot in the past 30 years but maybe I see new do’s and dont’s about the most beautiful plant existing on earth.

Hello All! I’m new to growing and this seems like a great community to be a part of. I’ve learned a lot already, and there is so much more to know!

I’m struggling a bit with the seedling stage, but I think I’ve figured out the main issues I’ve been having. Hopefully I’ll have some success worth sharing soon!

Whats the issue?

First, the environment was too unstable. I ended up moving my tent to the basement, and since then everything has been much more stable. Averaging about 75F and about 65-70% RH. Next, I believe my water pH is too high, around 7.5-8.0. I’ve gotten some pH reducer and now the run off after watering is down around 6.5. I think my soil is okay, just a basic organic potting mix with minimal nutrients, but I’m looking into other options.

Once I get the seedlings into the soil they sprout quickly, but after a week or so they just seem to stop growing. The leaves then start curling down, but they don’t appear burnt or anything. Then they just kind of exist in this state where they don’t change at all. It doesn’t look like they are growing, but it doesn’t seem like they are dying either. I can post some photos later.

Yay
I’m happy to be here. I am starting my 2nd outdoor grow with 2 plants. Jelly Breath & Tripple chocolate chip. Both are Indica plants because that is how I like it. I’m planning on getting some 16-16-16 fertilizer for them. Does anyone use this ratio?

Hi @Greenside, welcome to the community.

I follow Dr. Bruce Bugbee guidance, since he has tested pretty much ever fertilizer over the past 40 years, and he advises using a fertilizer with an N-P-K of 20-10-20, and at a concentration of EC: 2.3 / PPM: 1080

If you have not yet watched this video, I highly suggest it, he starts talking about fertilizer/nutrients at 30min30sec: Maximizing Cannabis Yields with Dr Bruce Bugbee

I use Strive Nutrients which is a super simple 2 part system from start to finish, it has an N-P-K of 19.5 - 9 - 2, BUT it also has a perfect balance of MicroNutrients as well, and my plants are happy but there many options out there I’m sure.
