Yellowing leaf edges

Hi all!
My first grow and just wondering if this is anything to worry about. About 18days in and the leaf edges on the bottom are beginning to turn yellow. I saturated today with DI water and tested run off which is at 6.15. Anyone got any tips on this?

Thank you!

It looks like you’re in Cocoa, which has no nutrients. Transplant into a potting mix asap. Until then add 1 tsp per gallon of water of a 0-1-1 root promoter. She is likely lacking nutes, but dont add nitrogen this early.

I agree with @Outdoorman, that soil looks like it’s just coco fiber that still needs other compounds in it to be used as a soil based medium. I would head to a garden center and get some better soil just don’t use miracle grow anything lol. I would get it into something smaller as well like a foam cup and work your way back up to that fabric pot, cannabis will grow much better and faster with a smaller pot as you can control the amount of water it gets 100x easier and it will dry out faster and the roots will develop better when you start small and work your way back up to a 5 gallon or larger pot before you flip to flowering. Order some good soil online like fox farm ocean forest and in the meantime just transplant her into a small pot or cup with some Home Depot soil for now until you get some good stuff ordered unless you have some.

Hello friend, if you have a high-quality, buffered coconut substrate, then it’s okay. Just start feeding the plant a little at a time, let’s start with no more than 400 ppm and see how the plant will behave and keep the ph of the solution 5,5-5,8. The coconut substrate must be prepared before use. There are many topics on the Internet to read. Below is the feeding table for my fertilizers. I grow many times in coconut, it is a very good substrate!green-house-seed-co-green-house-feeding-long-flowering-1830607224873_x70044

If you don’t find information about coconut. Contact me friend I’ll help you. I have a coconut substrate grows well! Although I have the cheapest, largest coconut substrate. https://growithjane.com/growlog/afghan-kush-special-e82d/

Tthanks outdoorman, I think I cheated out on the medium which wasnt a good idea. I was advised to plant in final potting as it’s an auto and they dont manager transplanting well. Would you still recommend a transplant?

Thabks @209MIKE. Ocean forest for sure, will get some ordered. I’m growing a stardust auto strain, it says should grow max about 60cm high (I have a small grow space). Would this still need a 5 gallon pot to allow the roots to grow?

Thanks @Sedrik777. It was some really cheap soil mix off amazaon, didn’t even mention being coconut substrate. Going to order some ocean forest to use. I have the ph perfect set of nutrients from advance nutrients so will feed on the next water. Thanks for sharing the growlog, looks great! Will have a proper read through, still learning lots and really appreciate the help

Friend I’m sorry but I still don’t understand what kind of soil mixture you have. This is 100% coconut or a mixture, tell me more. Here below are pictures of an excellent coconut substrate with which you need a minimum of actions before using. These are coconut Ugro and Canna.

I also saw an entry in your diary. Did not use perlite (error! Poor drainage). Perlite it does not serve for drainage, it loosens the soil and retains moisture. I add it to the coconut and add a little washed earth if the coconut substrate is large. For drainage, I crumble the foam on the bottom of the pot 3 cm. And in such bags as yours, excess moisture should drain well.

Tthanks @Sedrik777, great point on the drainage. Will use the foam method. So is perlite a good idea with soil or better for coco? Was thinking a 20% perlite soil mix. What would you recommend? I couldn’t add pictures here for some reason so I added the image and description of the potting soil onto my growlog. It’s real cheap stuff, wont be using this again and will go for ocean forest

If you have no experience, it is better to grow on the ground, the earth forgives many mistakes. But be sure to buy good land. I have in my city is very difficult to find a good land substrate, so I can not advise anything. A mixture of good earth and perlite is a good substrate!

Thanks @Sedrik777. I’m on a second floor flat in the middle of city centre so stuck with potting for now. But thanks for all the help, I’ll give nutes on next water see if that helps and invest in some better medium

I looked at it you have not land and peat mixtures. It states that there are nutrients, but I would not grow in such soil. I would do this, if the pot is dry, then I would pour it with clean water with a minimum ppm and measure the pm of the water flowing out through the drain. If the ppm at the output is much larger than initially, then there are a lot of salts in the ground. Such land needs to be washed there may be an excess of fertilizers. And if the ppm at the output is slightly larger or the same, then this is an empty soil, the plant needs to be fertilized. And you need to check the ph at the output it should be like the initial one.

Good shout @Sedrik777. Will give that a go, i have a meter to check ppm. So if it’s high ppm, should flush and then give nutrients every other time it gets watered. Yeah think the medium is really bad, wont be using this again! Thanks for all the help, will keep the grow log updated

I’ve never grown autos but extra room for the roots is always a good idea, I believe any plant starting to flower needs at least a 3-5 gallon container to meet its potential @Mit

Nitrogen burn, just feed plain water, cut them out when they get too yellow

The first time I hear this, if you do nothing, then there will be nothing to cut. How did you determine that the plant has an excess of nitrogen?

@jz850 I would have laughed heartily at this message. But this is not a laughing matter for a person with a problem with a plant. He needs help with good advice.

The tops of your plants is starting to yellow. The plant is hungry. You are using deionized water which has virtually nothing in it, especially calcium and magnesium.
