Zeigt her eure Lady's

Hello and what a nice warm day it is again.

I actually just wanted to buy a liter of hydrogen peroxide today for cleaning the hoses soon when the grow is over. Cool, this time it’s a 6% solution, and as I found it in the garden center’s aquaristics section, it drew me past the garden, flower articles, and I don’t even know why or what possessed me. :innocent:

I also looked for a pH [meter], because when I use it, like now with the clones where I feed mineralically, I used lemon juice. It worked well but I wanted something different.

Mmh, but it didn’t stop there

20250918_134337

These are for testing, just 250 ml bottles each for now, and should be enough for a few ladies to eventually make comparisons to Living Soil. I’ll get the microbes later. A pest spray is also included.

First, some careful reading is necessary until it comes into use.

Now, for 3 days non-stop, the Auto Pot line was open, constantly refilling when empty.

And today I see nutrient deficiency.

Some of the lowest fan leaves are turning yellow.

So I just closed the tap because it’s the middle of the 5th week of flowering.

The Fast Diesel still has about 3 weeks.

The other three even have about 4 - 5 weeks left, and it seems a bit early for them to start fading now.

It can’t be too wet, and I rather assume that the microorganisms can no longer keep up with providing the high nutrient demands of the plants.

Adding solid fertilizer now no longer makes sense because it would also take more than a week to help.

So tomorrow I will mix a mineral Hesi, flowering nutrient solution, pH 6.6 regulated, 5 liters with half of the manufacturer’s recommendations to see if the fading can be stopped again.

Some booster with it should make the flowers get a bit thicker.

Each pot will then get about 1.25 liters, and the day after tomorrow the tap will open again.

Not many leaves are turning yellow. But it just seems a bit premature. From above, however, it still looks very nice.

Flowering Day 32 today. Three more days and the 5 flowering weeks are full, and the 6th will start. More and more frost and the scents are also increasing when the tent is open.

One can certainly get jealous @Pflanzenpaul
Looks really great.

For me, only the Girl Scout Cookies and Tangerine Dream are still in the tents; I removed the cereal milk prematurely. Reasons are private :joy:

Anyway, my girlfriend gets the “Co-Thinker of the Year” from me.

She arrived two days ago, saying: “Otherwise, nothing will come of the stash. I’ve ordered you a second tent.” :joy::face_blowing_a_kiss::nerd_face:

120x60x180. It’s already in the delivery vehicle and should arrive later.
The corner in the basement is already prepared; another layer of wood will be placed over it, and then the tent on top.

So far, things are progressing well in the tent.

Hello dear community and again a weekend is knocking at our door.

As mentioned yesterday, and to delay any deficiencies or the ladies starting to consume themselves, there was a special feeding today.

Yesterday, the Auto Pot was shut off, and in the morning all trays were empty and dry. I distributed the first 5 liters of nutrient solution, dosed at half strength, in stages, 1.25 liters per pot and tray into the trays. The first 0.5 liters were absorbed in an instant. I always poured in just enough so that I didn’t exceed the maximum level in the tray. At noon when I came home, all trays were empty again, so I made another 4 liters of nutrient solution with the same amount per liter. And so, each pot took in another liter in two passes. So today, everyone received 2.25 liters per pot, which corresponds to what they usually draw from the tank during the day. The Hesi Blüh Complex has a PH regulator directly included, which eliminates the need for readjustment. The PH was 6.7, which suited me perfectly. The EC was 1.0, but because it was another warm day today, the water was a bit warm at 23.5 degrees, and I didn’t have any ice cubes on hand. But the main thing is that they have something to absorb directly. Now let’s see how it looks tomorrow, the day after tomorrow.

If it helps, I will repeat it next week.

Yesterday, I started to get some BioBizz products. I pulled the feeding schedule from the internet and read up on it. What beautiful things there are! Microbes 150 gr., but damn expensive, that little jar. But I had to have it, and one can overdo it with security alarms. I scanned and paid for everything at the self-checkout, and an alarm went off when I walked out. But I just kept going because I had paid. The drama continued at home. There was a plastic thing strapped around the package, and when I took it off, the thing here kept beeping. Eventually, I let it drown in a water bath, and then it was quiet. Now it’s in the trash can and can keep beeping there once it’s dry. The sticker itself was a magnetic security tag, and when I held the bottle, there was another magnetic plastic strip. One can overdo it. :joy:

I also got Top Max, Fish Mix, Heaven, and Pre Mix. I have Light Mix for seedlings, worm humus anyway, and I’ll try an All Mix bag in the final pot.

However, it will then be hand-watering because the nutrient line is not supposed to work well in the Auto Pot. The nutrient solution is very unstable. Unless you clean the tank and hoses weekly, and I’m not keen on that.

Now and then something new to be able to draw direct comparisons, and with the Bio Bizz line, it remains purely organic for now.

Now, in this grow with the Living Soil, briefly intervening with mineral nutrients, but in gentle dosing, the microbial life should not suffer any harm and possibly even benefit. It just shouldn’t be too much so that salt deposits don’t occur, which would disturb the soil life. It’s somehow good to have a little bit of everything on hand.

Tomorrow then, when the trays are empty, I will turn the main tap of the Auto Pot back on.

The clones are due for a mineral feeding this weekend. The Jamaican clone is growing slowly and still dealing with Re Vegging. I bent the other 2 down to 90 degrees to slow their vertical growth a bit. Let’s see what comes of it.

Then I wish everyone a relaxing weekend and much success with the cultivation of these great plants. Stay High - Greetings from Pflanzenpaule

@Pflanzenpaul I’m switching from Bio Bizz to living Soil for the next grow. I’m fed up with throwing away the soil every time.

On the right and left, the Watermelon Candy’s, flower day (BT) 36/60-63. I will probably, once the right one is harvested, move the left one a few days more to the right, as that’s where it gets the most sun.

In the middle, the Jealousy, flower day (BT) 25/70. I even managed to defoliate a bit. I bent a piece of thicker garden wire and taped it to a stick with duct tape. Thread it in, a tug directly at the stem connection, and boom, the leaf falls. Outdoor, I started counting the flowering days with the first pistils. I’ll let myself be surprised. In any case, the Watermelons are incredibly sticky, all resinous.

20250919_181536

20250919_181525

Zombie death Fuck, flower day (BT) 63/70-73. The fact that the leaves are yellow is due to too much light. They are all firm and crisp as they should be, just yellow  The lamp was probably too close. The Zushi didn’t mind it at all.

20250919_181458

Blue Zushi, flower day (BT) 63/70, it’s coloring up :hugs:

20250919_181540

Both plants showed signs of foxtails, the lamp is now at 50cm. With the Zushi I could prevent it, the Zombie unfortunately formed one or two. It was also just a test, which it passed so far. Very nice short node spacing, which qualified it for next year by the window. Outdoor harvest is indicated as Sept 15-30, which for us would be Oct 15-30. That’s another point I need to think about. If October turns golden, all good. So I have to finish watering at the window before it gets dark. Then the curtain closes.

@snAke

Then the change is perfect. You living, I BB.

I’m not sure now. I think it was at Sonnenerde where they offer a ready-made living soil. Predatory mites are added directly to the mix there to keep pests in check. I still have a bag of Dope Soil 10%, but since it’s not activated, it lasts.

I just want something different to be able to make comparisons.

I now have everything from BB for fertilizing and suitable soils and Pre Mix.

But all the bottles are only the small ones for one to two, three cycles.

Just have a look.

With living soil, and then with heavy feeders, you often see upcoming deficiencies from the second half of flowering.

Especially in smaller pots and also in 20 l pots. It runs really well if you work in a 150 to 300 l bed.

Then you can’t really get to anything at the bottom of the tent anymore.

Qualitatively, the stuff is cool in the end.

I will continue with that again. It’s just like taking a vacation from L. Soil.

The disadvantage with BB is that you don’t have much fun with Auto Pot.

The nutrient solution is only stable for a few hours. This leads to a stench in the tank and, in conjunction with pH-, to slime formation in the water and would cause problems in the lines.

That alone would make BB not for me long-term.

It’s also just about laying out possibilities for now.

Throwing away soil also suits me because I still have an excavation behind the house to fill, and the used stuff goes in there gradually.

Do you really think the yellow came from the light being too close? Then it would only be like that on top, right? I rather think it sucked itself dry near the end to finish the flowers.

In the end, only the Buds count anyway. But it looks cool. Have a nice weekend.

Regards Paule

They’ve been yellow for a while. It didn’t have an easy childhood; it was slightly over-illuminated during propagation but recovered. However, when it entered the tent, I was already at 75% [light intensity]. It was also a shock going from 20W 16h to 275W 18h. Although I had it standing lower, further away from the light, it was still too much. I sent the young right one into flowering, and then had to raise it, which is when the yellow leaves started. That was around the 4th or 5th week of flowering.

With Bio Bizz, you’re sure to have gnats too. I fertilize according to the schedule. At the beginning of the grow, I bought 1L Grow [nutrient] and 1L Bloom [nutrient], plus 2x 20L, 2x 40L, 1x 11L [pots/soil]. I mixed a total of 250ml of Grow [nutrient] with Lab. When the grow is finished, those bottles will be empty, Bloom probably even sooner. I won’t buy anything more; I’ll use more banana ferment instead. The 250ml bottles probably won’t be enough.

Well then. In a few days, the ventilation will go into the larger tent, and in the “smaller” one, pro exhaust ventilation will be conjured up again.
BUT I also found thick transparent film. It goes into both tents, then I save myself the under-pots..:flexed_biceps:t3:

Yeah, it’s clear that gnats will remain an issue even with a BB grow. Because they are already in the soil.

But I see the possibility here with Leaf Coat to protect the plant itself from critters, and one can continuously add microbes, which a watering with neem oil here and there might also limit them, but allows for re-inoculation. On the other hand, I’m getting some coco mats to cover everything around so that nothing gets in or out and the soil’s aeration remains intact.

What I also wanted to ask about removing the soil after a run.

Haven’t you ever tried just removing the top layer with some fresh soil, worm humus, and Pre Mix to reactivate it? As I’ve read, a second run should then also be possible.

I don’t like to mess up the caps, and in the Starter Pack there was a dosing aid with 1 to 5 ml increments. Although I didn’t buy a Starter Pack, one can look, and when I came out, the dosing aid was still stuck in my hand.

Even with only the small bottles in full, I had the feeling that such a dosing aid would suit me well then too. One’s luck, another’s sorrow.

Let’s see if it’s enough for one run, and in All Mix, even half the dosage should be sufficient.

After that, I need to look for a stable nutrient solution to successfully use the Auto Pot with it.

Because I’m slowly getting the suspicion that since the Auto Pot was continuously running, it became too wet in the root zone, which is why there’s now a deficiency.

I did a comparison with the Fast Diesel and saw that the first one didn’t get used up from the bottom up already in that phase. But I also see that this one is now much further along in its time than the first one. Many more pistils already colored.

Oh well, it will manage these three weeks too.

I’m curious how it will go for you with the Living Soil. Good evening, greetings from Paule

I always mixed in the old soil, mostly worms in the soil, the old roots still in it, eggshells really finely crushed, and God knows what else was just in the kitchen. I also water with liquid manure/slurry, so a second run was already possible, at least with part of the soil. I don’t see the point of Pre Mix; good compost, worm humus, and mycorrhiza also do the trick. But as I said, I want soil forever. After the grow, you can replenish it with nutrients, mix it, add fresh spores, and let it sit. I’m happy to do that work.

I use the caps; it’s easier to dose in a 10l bucket than with a 3ml pipette. I have running warm water, so they’re quickly rinsed out :winking_face_with_tongue:.

@snAke

Unfortunately, manufacturers are always quick to say that you can work with Living Soil for years. But here, fungus gnats are the problem.

And generally, it’s also said!

If soil is infested, you replace it.

It gets really expensive to maintain a healthy, beneficial soil life, unfortunately with only limited success.

Not because beneficial insects are trash, but simply because the supply chains are too long, and in summer, they arrive dead.

If you ever have a virus-carrying genetic, you can also dispose of an entire bed.

In the end, there’s always a catch somewhere. In pots, at least, you often deal with nutrient deficiencies prematurely. Nobody knows if the plant can handle a 10% mix or even needs a 20% mix. And when setting up entirely by yourself, it requires 18 diverse ingredients in the right ratio.

But the biggest problem will be the gnat plague. If it succeeds, however, you definitely have advantages.

I’m really curious about that.

Meanwhile, I could smash everything here.

Yesterday, Growberg and their video immediately came to mind. About flickering LEDs. You just have to plug in the timer switch with a different polarity.

Here I can say 100%; Nonsense.

Yesterday evening in the dark, due to the high humidity, I wanted to open the tent and saw that the LEDs weren’t completely off. It had already been a good 5 hours of dark phase.

I had that once before, and that’s why the timer switch’s polarity had already been changed. And despite the different polarity, it’s happening again now. But only when both lamps go above 70%.

So the reason is more; higher load, only separating one phase when off, creates an arc that causes the flickering. And here, it simply doesn’t matter how the timer is plugged in.

It was avoidable and due to my laziness. Tomorrow I’m going to Bauhaus, buying a few small parts, and building a relief for the timer switch that will then separate both phases when off.

Otherwise, as it is, it will eventually d

Oh man.. yeah, hopefully you’ll get that under control quickly.. it’s insidious too, of course. Just continuing to smolder at night.

Sometimes a dark inspection is worth its weight in gold. With the 320 W Caluma, I haven’t had this problem so far. It probably has to do with the final power, and in the large grow, there are also 2 San Lights. As I said;

Tomorrow an ABB ESB25-40 N electromechanical switch in a surface-mounted damp-proof box. After that, the timer will give a signal, and the contactor will close both poles, so there will be no more sticking or glowing.

It probably only happens when they run highly dimmed, above 75%.

So now I’m going to feed the clones.

Have a nice day, greetings from Paule

After the timer was turned, the glow didn’t come back. Until now.

Nevertheless, I’m going to get the things for the contactor and play electrician today.

I’ve emptied the Auto Pot and am hand-watering the last stage to better control the humidity. My, how my fingers smell and stick when I just removed a few fan leaves. The Fast Diesel is starting to turn purple. So far, no signs of hermaphroditism are visible. Hopefully, it stays that way.

For my second grow, I bought a 4-pack of smart plugs with power consumption measurement. No afterglow, nothing at all. Right after plugging them in, I made the house dark and had myself locked in the tent. Checked with the camera on video, nothing. What I did coincidentally find in video mode during my DIY build back then, however, were bulbs that were flickering before they died. Not visible with the naked eye or in photos. The video showed the broken LEDs.

Smart plugs probably switch both phases, at least the ones I have. Of course, I had the plugs in both directions when testing. If you’re going to test, do it properly.

@snAke

That might be it, that when a timer switch closes both phases, when off, then there is no afterglow.

Most, and certainly cheaper, timer switches only close one phase, and that’s where the problem comes from, but only later when the dimmers are at 75% or higher.

And as some videos on the topic suggest, changing the polarity would be enough.

And that’s exactly what I could refute, that it’s not enough, because I had done it and now, again, heavily into flowering, I had that damn afterglow again. And I had tested, plugged it in with different polarity, and still it was back. And I don’t even know for how long. Because who sits in front of the tent every evening, waiting for the light to go out to see if it’s glowing. And that for weeks.

But that has now come to an end. Today I spent some more money and built the contactor myself, and it’s ready. I’m just waiting for it to be dark in the tent and then the thing will be connected, which is only three plugs. A test run was successful.

Then for everyone else who is interested, and again; a lamp or two, which don’t glow for me at 40 to 50% dimming during growth, doesn’t mean they won’t glow at 75% or higher. Especially with 1-phase timer switches, the danger is always there, and it can get so bad that one phase burns out permanently and you have continuous light.

No more of that for me now! The timer switch now only sends the signal to the contactor, and it closes or opens both phases accordingly, so nothing glows anymore, regardless of whether it’s a cheap timer, or right or left polarity.

1

Here’s a bit of what you need: a surface-mounted moisture protection box, the contactor ABB-ESB 25-40 N, three M 20 strain relief screws, wire ferrules and pliers. A piece of black cable with a plug for the timer switch and the main power-supplying cable, an extension or a triple plug. I used a 3-meter cable because I only need one plug for both lamps anyway. A triple or more can be added at any time if more lamps were needed.

2

3

The Contactor!

4

5

All grounds connected in series at the top from the main power-supplying line, installed on the left side in my setup.

7

6

The brown cable coming from the plug to 1 and the brown one going to the other end to 2.

Blue coming from the plug to 3 and blue to the other cable end to 4. With that, the main power-supplying line was connected to the contactor, followed by the signal-giving cable from the timer switch. To avoid any confusion, I kept the main line white and the timer cable black. :joy:

8

Then the black cable coming from the left, the brown into A1 and the blue into A2 and ground again in series at the top.

9

Now everything was connected, and before going to the grow lamps, a test run was necessary :joy:

10

11

Yeah, the lamp is cool. As you can see, black cable into the timer switch and the power-supplying cable white, the plug also into the socket, the other end the lamp.

12

Then the power impulse came and the lamp was on.

13

Now it has found its place, firmly on the wall and soon - it’s dark phase now - I’m going in and plugging everything in and changing it over, and the glowing was history.

Large nurseries don’t work any differently. That shit won’t happen to me again.

A closer look today shows me no hermaphrodite problems so far. On the contrary, it looks good.

The 6th week of flowering has begun, and the Fast Diesel is already nearing its end anyway. A maximum of three more weeks. Indicated as 8 - 9 weeks.

Compared to the first, this one looks much further along for the time, and it’s starting to purple. A good 3/4 of the pistils are already colored.

I can only hope that the afterglow wasn’t too much stress.

Many greetings from Pflanzenpaule

The boy did a fine job :hugs:

My smart plugs were also “cheap”; I think the 4-pack cost me 22 bucks plus shipping back then, bought on eBay.

Rather affordable than cheap, Ledvance (Osram) isn’t cheap stuff. I did the last test a few weeks ago because with the Zushi, right at the bottom where everything is trimmed, the wrong sex suddenly appeared. Tiny flowers, 3 hairs on the Fu77, and balls underneath. First thought was a light check. Opened the dark bottom of the tent, put my head in, nothing; put the camera in, nothing. No idea where the gender confusion came from, but nothing else developed. The lamp was already at 100% (308.7 W), so everything is fine with the smart plug, which also has the advantage of power consumption measurement and thus shows me if the whole thing is even worth it.
