Hey Growlings!

Since the translator came up again in the chat today, I thought it would be useful to share a little tip about how to use it.

Sometimes the automatic translator doesn’t display everything that’s included in the original post. You may see only part of the message, and things like photos or links (including Growlog links) may not show up.

If something seems to be missing, just turn the translation off and check the original post. You can turn it back on whenever you need it, by clicking or touching the translator icon:

So, if someone says “here’s my Growlog” and you can’t find any link, or they’re talking about a photo you can’t see, check the original before assuming it’s not there.

The translator is still very useful when we have so many different languages in the Community. Just keep this little quirk in mind when something doesn’t look quite right.

The translator doesn’t always work on long texts even short ones sometimes. I’ve had to copy and paste into Google translate to keep conversation going.

I always highlight the texts, and then click translate.

I have issues with it sometimes too but would say 95% of the time it works well. I really love how it’s brought all the different communities together!

And when things go well, nobody says anything anymore.

I think the new translator, if it is a new one, works very reliably and you can even set which languages you understand. These are then not translated.

Thanks for pointing this out! We’re really happy to see it working so much better too
And since we mentioned that the previous issues were related to the platform the forum runs on, it’s only fair to give them credit for the improvements as well.
It’s great to see the difference. Hopefully it keeps working this smoothly!
