AC suggestion

I started having problems with high temps in mt tent. I tried the diy route. I tried an evaporated cooler but with the already high temps it was next to impossible to keep the water cold or even cool enough to make a difference plus just raised the the humidity level.

Now i have a 5 x 5 x 8 tent and after getting over my frustrations and several hours of looking i found this:

I would not recommend this in anything smaller than what i have due to negative pressure. Its rated for up to a 10 x 15 or 150 square foot area. This was the smallest refrigerant cooled unti i could find.
It has a programmable temp with auto cycle or cool mode and adjust the fan speed. Only downsides 2 speeds and has to be vented (everything included).
It even has a dehumidifier if you need one.
In my opinion this is definitely worrh the money if you need one or just looking to upgrade. It does what it says and works.

I at first said that having to vent this AC was a downside…but its not.
Im gonna use it to my advantage. The exhaust hose is 6 inches , so im going to get some 6 inch flexable duct splice into it (hose is to short for this) then im going to get an AC Infinity 6 inch carbon filter at the end , just like if you used an inline fan basically. This way i can free up my 230cfm fan ( for current filter) to help combat the negative pressure with about 420cfm (:joy_cat::joy_cat::joy_cat::joy_cat::joy_cat::joy_cat: actually 425) intake between the 2 - 4 inch fans i have now.

Just some thoughts,

  1. How will putting a carbon filter on the end of A/C effect the health of the A/C since it’ll restrict the flow. Its not really designed for this use.

  2. If you are bringing in 8 inches of intake and the A/C is at correct temperature wouldn’t the A/C throttle down? Now you have alot of intake and little to no out take. Some A/C go into idle when room temperature is met, some A/C will just switch to low fan.

Your right , but ill be usung the AC exhaust as my tent exhaust so that way it will fliter like normal. The cooling cycle switches in/off not the fan so its constantly running.
When it comes to the negative pressure even on the low fan speed and using only one 4 inch 195cfm intake is not enough , its designed for a 150 sqft. area not my tiny 25 sqft. space. My sides are still suckung in about 2 inches all the way around. So im going to take the 4 inch 230cfm im usung for my exhaust now and use that as a 2nd intake. Between the 2 - 4 inch fans as intake i should be able to get a more acceptable balance.
I always have a little negative pressure to help keep the smell down in my house , its getting ready to go up for sale.

Heres a pic of it on continuous low fan plus cool cycle , you have to look kinda close to see the display its not constant when taking pics but have it set at 72 degrees F

Heres the filter im getting:

Makes more sense to me im not gonna need a bigger one so get one i can reuse.

Cool. Hope it all works out as planned. After my current run is done ill probably start my next run in September. I avoid summer grows. Its just too hot.
