Advanced Nutrients brand - How to use? Advice

Hi!
I believe it was on this site that I saw a few people mention the brand Advanced Nutrients. I saw it for what I thought was a good price and decided to give it a try. I’ve been using FoxFarms nutrients up to now.
See picture for what I bought, which was a set of 3 bottles.
I’m confused on how to use these 3 bottles. If I’m reading correctly, each bottle says that all 3 bottles must be used at the same time. They are called Bloom, Grow, and Micro. It further states what to use depending on age of plant:
4ml/liter for mature plants “during all weeks of the plant life cycle”…
2ml/liter for small plants with 3 to 4 sets of leaves…
1ml/liter for cuttings and seeds…
Seems simple enough and you might be saying, “why can’t you just follow directions?”
I’m happy to do so but am confused because I was under the impression that cannabis needs different amounts of nutrients during different phases of growth (seedling, veg, flower). As an example, I thought you give a lot less nitrogen during flower stage? With my old nutrients (FoxFarms), there was something specific to give during veg phase, a different product for flower phase, and I believe a third bottle to use all the time.

  1. Can someone explain this to me? Why would I use the same products all throughout the life cycle? Doesn’t cannabis require different nutrients as it ages?
  2. Am I reading the directions correctly? Mine are currently small plants, so I’m guessing 2 ml/liter of each bottle right now?
  3. When do I switch to 4 ml/liter of each bottle? That is, what is “mature”?
  4. Do I really do the same thing (4 ml/liter) during veg and flower?
  5. The instructions say “Other substrates 2-4 times/week as necessary”. I’m growing in soil (FoxFarms OceanForest). Depending on temperature and other factors, I sometimes only water once a week. How am I suppose to apply 2-4 times/week? I try to let my plants get pretty dry and then water them. This was recommended to me and has worked well in the past. I use to be guilty of overloving and overwatering

For what it’s worth, I typically start my plants in FoxFarms Happy Frog in very small pots. I then transfer to 5 gallon fabric pots and use FoxFarms Ocean Forest for the rest of the time. Even though I’ve been told that many folks don’t add nutrients to the FoxFarms Ocean Forest until Flower phase (because the soil is supposedly high in nutrients), I typically add some nutrients during veg phase and then step it up in flower phase. And then go to straight water for last 2 weeks or so.

Thank you all!

I use to use FF but switched to AN and glad i did.

To answer your question , the Grow , Micro and Bloom are the base nutrients and designed for the entire life cycle.

  1. You can use just those three if you want…but ive added their Sensizym , B-52 , Bud Candy and Big Bud.

  2. for feedings of those 3 youll want to do;
    Week 1 - 1ml per liter
    Week 2 - 2ml per liter
    Week 3 - 3 ml per liter
Week 4 - 4 ml per liter until harvest ( or flush )

3,4) yes use 4 ml p/l even in flower , as far as feeding times a week i feed everytime , the only time i use plain water is if i don’t get run off.
I use seperate bottles for each plant so i know how much each one is getting and if i need to adjust.

I went to my local grocery store and got some 500ml and 1 liter water bottles for feeding when they are young and don’t take an entire gallon.
My personal experience , i usually end up feeding 3 gallons a week during flower in 5 gallon fabric pots.
Im trying 3 gallon fabric pots this time and feeding 1 liter every other day.
Now i grow autos in a custom soil mix , (the grow shop calked it super soil?) Not sure exactly what that means.:joy_cat::joy_cat::joy_cat::joy_cat:.
My last 2 auto’s i got almost a pound together and a half pound off 1 plant that got to be 54 inches from bottom branch to top of main cola using Advanced Nutrients.
Ill include the recipes they gave me for your reference , but if your still uncomfortable using the 3 base ones the entire cycle they do have other products…like their Sensi Bloom is a 2 part system that you need to switch between veg and flower.

Heres current results at week 2 veg…

If you still have questions feel free to ask im currently communicating with them about possibly being an authorized distributor for them.

I’ve used the Sensi line, veg, and bloom, with all their additives. I’ve used them for 2 years or so and have better results with Gaia Green 4-4-4 and 2-8-4. I like the Advanced Nutrients when doing DWC, that’s the only time I had success with them. Happy growing

Thanks @Papakat420 and @Demonrage75 . I think I understand most of what you guys said, but a few follow up questions…

  1. @Papakat420 Just to be clear… In week 4 and beyond I add 4 ml of Grow to 1 liter , and 4 ml of Micro to another 1 liter, and 4 ml of Bloom to yet another 1 liter. That is, I end up with 3 liters, correct? As opposed to putting 4 ml of each in just 1 liter (so 12 ml of nutrients in 1 liter). Same question with Weeks1, 2, and 3. I just used > Week 4 as an example.
  2. Both of you seemed to be hinting I might need something more. Do I really need to? The more stuff I have to add, the more expensive AND the more likely I am to screw it up. With the FoxFarms there was just “Grow Big”, “Tiger Bloom” and one other. So three things. And as I said, at any one time there was at most only 2 nutrients to remember to feed with.
  3. @Demonrage75 I should get you a job at my workplace. I’m often joking that folks are throwing out new acronyms  What is “DWC”? Perhaps I should be able to figure it out, but I consumed a fair bit of one of my previous grows last night and I haven’t had enough coffee to remove the brain fog yet.
Thank you all once again! Happy growing!

P.S. My current grow includes Alaskan Auto Purple (from Seedsman) which I grew last year and really liked. I liked it so much that this year I’m also going to try Alaskan Purple PhotoPeriod (also from Seedsman). My previous grow (which I smoked last night) was Z99, Rosetta, and UberWencsh, all from Grimms Bros.

Lol…you add them all together in one liter or how ever much your mixing not separate ones. Like now i mix everything 1 gallon at a time for the strength i need then split into smaller portions for what the plants need , right now its only about 1.5 liters each. Its just easier for me to know how much they are taking in than eyeballing a full gallon between multiple plants and trying to guess or mix to much at once.
As far as needing anything else…technically no the base trio will give you a good and healthy plant. The additional ones are for root and stalk development , bud size/flavor and various other enhancing nutrients. It just comes down to what you want to invest and comfortable with. I actually use 8 different nutrients for my grows.

DWC is deep water culture. It’s a type of hydroponics. The only things I would suggest you add is the voodoo juice, piranha, and tarantula. They are beneficial microbes that help with root health. Healthy roots means healthy plants.

You can also go online and look up Advance nutrient calculator if you’re using gallons you put gallons if you use in liters you use liters to measure out what you need to feed that’s how I started and I’m using Advance nutrient Advance and Advance nutrient balloon very simple if you print out the schedule

Advanced Nutrients has an app called Budlabs that can tell you how much and when. You have to set the app up before using correctly but once set up you’re good to go.
