Helllo growers,
Looking for advice on led lights.
I have a small grow witch is approx 2ft x 2ft
Currently have Phlizon Advanced PL-1000 (100 watt) Plant LED Grow Light with UV IR LEDs & Brand Driver Dimmable Full Spectrum Grow Lamp.
Wondering if it would benefit upgrading as iv bin told i would be better with a 300-400 watt light?
Any info and advice please
Peace
Hi, with your space offer I wouldn’t switch to 300 - 400 watts, apart from the fact that you probably won’t be able to install it on the space. 150 watts is the maximum in my opinion. More power would also mean more heat. But you can of course try it out.

Cannabis Growers Are SHOCKED by These New LED Breakthroughs
I personally would always go with something bigger but dimmable. Some Strain like more light than others. You have the option to use CO². And it just feels good, knowing you have enough light to push the plants to their limits. And you can not give your plants too much light like with nutrients. It just becomes a waste of energy and money at some point.
This chart is a good guideline for how much light your plants need at the different growth stages.
I hope this was helpful!
I agree with cliff probably max 150w which is perfect for a 2x2 maybe 200w but might not even use it at full power but not bad to have the extra juice on hand at times lol. Lynx shared a great article that helps as well. As far as brands go if looking for something affordable and good id say mars hydro (ts series run a little hot), spider farmer ive heard good things about as well as viparspectar or however its spelled lol. All 3 brands i would consider decent for the price and can get decent grows with em. More expensive but built to last and quality parts would be like ac infinity and i think HLG is another one but i may be wrong on the name
Normally I’d only recommend ThinkGrow or HLG (Horticulture Lighting Group) lamps, or maybe Mars as a good budget lamp.
But for a 2.5x2.5 and under grow space on a tight budget, I’d suggest looking at a Barinna BU2000, it’s a cheap lamp and I’ve been surprised by the results. I bought it for the wife to use over her houseplants in winter and stole it for veg cycle back in the spring. I have an HLG Diablo 200 originally bought for veg but run the Barinna more often because it has an external dimmer and adjustable panels that work well in small spaces.
Just a heads up you can give a plant too much light. The leaves will burn and taco or the buds will foxtail
Ac infinity has a great 2x2 light for like 100 bucks on Amazon. It’s dimmable and definitely good enough for a 2x2. Personally in a 2x2 100 watts is the right amount unless you are running co2
The Sun can reach 3000 ppfd + and the plants can deal with it. You can burn your plants with heat but not with light. And Foxtailing is a genetic thing which can be triggered by a lot of light, that’s true.
I posted this last year but the original post is not sadly not existing anymore. There was that dude putting 2200W on one single plant in a 4x4 tent and he made a real monster of a Plant.
But I don’t want to argue with you! It doesn’t make sense to use that much light. Thats for sure!
I could give my plants 600W in a 2x4 but I would never do that!
Did you know the guy making that claim? I call bs w/o co2. I ran 1k watts in my 5x5 every leaf taco’d until I reduced the light. I’m legit speaking from experience not what I found online from a third party. I’ve also ran clones in separate tents and the tent with the stronger light was the only place I found foxtailing. Not trying to argue just stating my first hand experience
Appreciate all the replies and thanks!!!
I have the most basics DIY setup. Built grow box from an old wardrobe with 100 watt led light, x2 mini fans, mini heater and a temperature controller. Only started using biobizz feeds around 5 months ago (root, grow and bloom). Also use felt pots and just regularly soil.
Without going to extreme and technical what would help improve my setup??
I saw the pictures of the setup. And I know what the Sun is capable of. If you were right, it would not be possible to grow cannabis in Marocco or Afghanistan. What could happen in an Indoor grow is that you create hot spots which will burn your plants. At some point the plants just don’t use the light we give them. It’s scientifically proven. I’m sure the problems you ran into were heat related.
But let’s end this… You won… If you want…
It’s not about who won, again I was having a discussion not a debate.
I think you’re both right. I also had foxtailing due to too much exposure with a strain that wasn’t bred that way. Yes, a lot of light brings a lot. But now back to Morocco, where the sun doesn’t shine on a plant all day, which means the comparison with the sun and a tent is nonsense. The sun moves and the intensity changes every day. I think you’re comparing apples and oranges. Get the heat from the lamps under control and put a 2000 watt one in. I think the experiences of the indoor growers here are particularly valuable. And it won’t do you any good to burn down your closet or mini tent or create a plant that you can’t get under control with so little space.

Thats good! And I don’t want to force my opinion on anyone!
First of all I love DIY solutions!
And then I would recommend watching this video here. At this point all the brands became pretty good and have a similar light spectrum. Choose the light you want to see every day in your tent. Or choose the cheapest one btw. it’s black week. I’m sure the are some good deals around! I bought myself a vaporizer!
