Hi,
I hope that someone can help me.
I’m a newbie grower, having some fun Outdoor. I bought photo period seeds online (2 strains), labelled Texada and Seabiscuit. I germinated 6 seeds, 3 of each, in June (far too late, I know!). Because if my inexperience, I lost two in the transfer to soil. One went in upside down!!
A third plant was clearly male, growing pollen sacs early on, and was removed
. I think I’m left with 2 Texada and 1 Seabiscuit.
Once again, my newbiness shines bright as I planted everything in Miraclegrow soil. Even added MG nutrients (Ultrabloom 15-30-15). I’m learning the hard way…
Fast forward 2 months and I have 2 thriving plants and one that i think went into nutrient lockout recently (yellowing around edges of leaves, drooping amd curling leaves).
. Note that it has been consistently hot (30°+) and humid with heavy rains at times this summer in La belle province where I am.
The two healthy plants started to flower recently and the sick one is trying. I flushed the sick one by giving LOTS of water until it was draining from the bottom but I’m not sure if I even did that right. We’ll see.
My big question now is whether I have a female or Hermie. Or simply, is this normal when flowering starts?
Seabiscuit
Texada
I haven’t given up on getting a harvest. Am I just a newbie with pipe dreams (literally)?
From what I can see it looks like a female with some swollen ass calyxs. I dont see any signs of pollen sacs just calyxs with pistils coming off.
As for the MiracleGro, stay away from it. Its full of toxic time release fertz which end up destroying a crop come flower. MiracleGro will continue to dump Nitrogen into your plant during flower leading to Nitrogen Toxicity.
MiracleGro works good during veg as the NPK ratio has a high Nitrogen content. But come flower your plants diet will change and will want far less N and want more P&K( Potassium , Phosphorus). This is where MG hurts your plant pumping high N and less P&K.
I prefer a soil thats well amended and ready to use right out of the bag. No time ferts. This allows me to control the ratio my plants receive come flower.

Thanks for the reassurance regarding buds. We’ll see what happens come harvest time.
As for the soil, it’s too late now but for next time I know. Again, we’ll see what happens in 6 weeks ;).

Your welcome bud
As for the MiracleGro its hit or miss… Ive always seen issues with it but Ive also seen some straind pull through well. For the most part I stay away from MG too toxic and bad news.
Next grow Id recommend a soil like Happy Frog or Ocean Forest.
