Hello,
I’ve done a few geows and it seems like each time I do I get an allergic reaction. My heart rate goes crazy and my throat gets tight. I use Fox Farm Ocean Forest potting mix. Has anyone else experienced this? It’s possible ots a coincidence but i stopped growing for a year and the lroblem went away. Just started 2 new plants and its back in full swing, i spent the night in the ER.
Hi @SodiePop - I really hear this first time in my life. Just to be sure I ask back. You just talk about breathing the air if you are close to your grow area? Is that what you are talking about? Or do you talk about smoking the final product?
Are you allergic to shellfish?
Wow, never heard of that happening. But, i guess im not surprised that some might be allergic to cannabis. That sucks. You might look into mushrooms instead. I personally know some people who micro dose them and they live by it. Gives them the relaxation and comfort from stress and such.
Not at all. I regulsrly enjoy them.
Just talking about being around the growing plant.
I smoked a thc vape for years with 0 issues.
Try totally another grow. I’ve never done it, but maybe you can try it.
- Outdoor …either … or
- Hydroponic
Or take a FFP2 mask like during corona
You might be one of the handful of people in the world allergic to cannabis
If I am it’s a recent development. I smoked a vape for years after a bunch of ankle surgeries to help pain. I had no issues then. It only seems to be an issue while growing before the flowering stage starts.
I might not have understood. You are getting allergic while growing the plant or smoking it?
Growing the plant. And it’s not usually an issue in the flowering phase.
Unlucky. Are you 100% it is the cannabis, not something else in the growroom? What did the hospital say, could they ID a cause, or what did they treat you with?
Tightened throat points to anaphylaxis, are you sure it is not a food allergy or maybe latex? You can get tested for allergies, I would do that and see what triggers are in your growroom.
No one has figured it out yet. The grow room was just thoroughly cleaned before the grow started. I’m following up woth my primary and most likely going to see an allergist. I’ve never been allergic to anything before so I dunno wtf is going on.
Is it after hands on work with the plant? I have had my hands and forearms get itchy and my nose get runny after training sessions and that is the same reaction i get from grass which I know im allergic to. The strange thing about it for me is not all strains do it to me
No not always. Though the day I repotted and trained is the day I ended up in the ER.
If that’s the case i would probably be looking at the soil and figure out exactly what is in it and checking through that list for allergies. Other than that maybe run a different strain in different soil or even coco next round and see if it continues
Sounds like you had a reaction to a fungus in the soil. Mihht have to grow with a different substrate.
You’d be surprised tbh. I did one of those food allergy test kits years ago, I was never allergic to anything that I was aware of but took the test anyway not expecting anything.
Got the results and turned out I was allergic to like 40 different things.
@Bentgenetics good shout
Also every 7 years your body changes significantly. I never had seasonal allergies till last year and I’m 41.gotta love the human experience. I’m also no longer allergic to bees which was with me for the last 41 years.
