Aussie Compost Tea Recipe

Hi, you may have read lots of compost tea recipes from the US and UK and most of the ingredients are not available in Australia.

This is a recipe a mate of mine uses and is all available from Bunnings Australia.

You will need a 10 litre bucket and preferably 2 air stones running from an air pump/live bait pump etc for best results.

10 ltrs- Water (sit for 24hrs prior with air stone running) This eliminates the chlorine and Ph to 6 - 6.6

2 Cups - Vera Soil Worm Castings
20gms - Richgro Blood & Bone (1 tbl spoon approx)
40ml - Neutrog GoGo Juice (liquid)
10ml - Blackstrap Molasses (Chemist Warehouse)

  1. Stir the Molasses and GoGo juice into the water.

  2. Put all dry ingredients into a netting sleeve
( best to slowly add the worm castings first then the blood and bone, be careful as some will fall through the bag. I put a bowl under my bag first.

The bags were also purchased from Bunnings (Diamond Econetting 3 Pack Netting Sleeve 25cm x 43cm).

  1. Seal top of bag with a clip or rubber band. And hang over the edge of the bucket (needs to be near the top not sinking down the very bottom of the bucket).

  2. Turn on the airpump/s and run for 24hrs

Your tea should be covered with bubbles when done. If it isn’t you probably weren’t running enough air through the water.

See image below of my Comp Tea finished.

Have fun and please share your recipe if you have one!! Or let me know how you went with my recipe.

I myself don’t use teas except for emergencies but that certainly looks nourishing.
