Autoflowering for the first time

Hi Growers!

I would like to hear some advice from you. I have several years of experience growing photoperiodic plants, but summer is coming and I want to grow a few girls before February. So, I am going to grow auto-flowering plants for the first time.
What do you think? Based on your experience, what are the main differences between growing autos or photoperiodical plants?

Thank you in advance!

Happy Growing!

Speed to harvest mainly, autos are definitely quicker.

Tradeoffs in my exp are slightly lower product quality and you can’t choose how much yield you want as the veg time is fixed. Also can’t really do any hst as they don’t have enough time to recover.

Otherwise they are defo worth a blast and then you can choose which you prefer.

Happy growing!

I saw you mention summer, if you have the ability to plant directly in the earth autos have surprising results. My only other advice would be make sure to direct sow the seed to its final home. The whole transplanting can be an issue if they become root bound or suffer shock in any way. Can’t wait to see your journey and the end result!

Get good genetics. Cheap autos will usually give poor quality and yields. Keep training simple, LST is recommended. High stress will likely cause low yields. I can usually seed to harvest in 100-120 days. (Usually on the higher side). plant seed in final pot if possible.

Since im growing my first photo currently, im not able to compare feeding and light intensity differences. But, i will say… my photo period plants seem to eat slightly more.

Thank you so much! I’m going to use 20-liter pots (5 and 1/4 gallons). I hope to harvest before the sun burns them.
I will keep you informed!

You pretty much got good advice from previous posts genetics is a huge bonus and one of my favorite breeders is mephisto, if not mistaken all there auto seeds f3 or higher (might be mainly f5) but just using them as an option for ya lol. When feeding youll read lots of post saying feed 1/4 strength but after doing my own tests and reading more into it thats more of a starting point as ive fed 2 hot damn autos this year full strength and they took it well. As for training lst & leaf tucking will be your best bet as not much wiggle room for plant to bounce back. There are plenty of info on people topping an auto and being a success i think its all about finding the small window to do so with out effecting the yield. Pot size should be perfect i grew in 3g and 5g and really not much of a difference depending on the plant. Im pretty stoned now so im sure ill remember some stuff i cant right now lol but hope this helps a little

Thank you so much! I have one seed from Dutch Passion, and others from local breeders. It is a good moment to compare them.Let’s see…
