I have a question that doesn’t really fit any of the blog subjects. I bought all feminized seeds and clones. I have 3 acapulco gold. it was not easy to find these and I’m oddly suprised that i haven’t heard much about lineage but here is my question. suppose I wanted to grow a male anything just to breed one of the golds for future seeds. I take the male and female and get them a private room. How long would they need to shack up ? and then could I put the knocked up girl back in the bud room without that affecting the other girls.
Good question i would like to know this myself. @Rasta_Free-Man @Bentgenetics @ELI would either of you be able to give some info or guide us in a direction for research possibly

Im no expert on the subject. But, from my research you could spay down the plant with water before moving it into another tent. Water kills pollen. There are people who actually paint brush pollen there lower branches and leave the tops to flower to smoke. When the tops finish they will cut them off the plant and let the seed branches mature. Im thinking of doing that one day.

What @ItsOzzie suggested would be perfect for what you want i think. You could grow the male in isolation, collect enough pollen and use it wherever you want. Make sure that you turn fans off when you are applying the pollen or move the female out of the room before you do it. That stuff spreads super easily with any breeze

When I crossed, back in the day, I would take a paper sack dampen it and put it around a limb of a male and shake that limb vigorously. Take the bag to a female (or more than one) and put it over one branch and let nature take its course for an overnight period. That means only one limb gets knocked up hopefully, not the whole plant This worked for me. If you have several varieties you can reuse the bag a few times. Don’t know how long it would last but a little goes far!

You can do any of the ways, of what the community has said. I found out to wait till middle of flower, just to make sure they’re is enough hair’s. Then brush on the lower branches. I collect the pollen in a pill jar just easy to use a brush.

Could this process be done to autos as well would you know? Or would it be the same outcome as cloning one (less yield less potency from what i understand) ?

Smoke , does this look like an auto? I got no info on genetics from the sellers. It was in a bag labeled “Cookies” but I’m not sure if they packaged it or the store put them in that package. It’s been under 18/6 for 85 days or so. Been so long since I grew one and I’ve never grown an auto seed so I’m unsure.

Looks to be photoperiod to me, normally autos will be in full flowering stage by day 85 regardless of light cycle so im pretty sure its a photo. When do you plan to switch to 12/12 light cycle? She looks amazing by the way

I’m not sure. Don’t want it to outgrow my tent so I was thinking maybe start it in a few weeks? What thoughts do you have. I know it isn’t going to get huge like it might outside and it’s better looking than anything I grew indoors 25 years ago. I believe Kush is supposed to be Indica, right? Maybe that’s why it looks so different? What’s a good guide line time to start her flowering?

Once you switch to flowering it will roughly double in size so depending how much head space you got left you can let it be if plenty of head room just switch to 12/12 and feed some bloom nutes and calmag. Or if running out of head space i see you have a trellis i would top the plant and apply trellis to help maintain height and those side branches will shoot up creating more of an even canopy allowing more light to hit more bud sites and then switch to 12/12 between day 100-115 this will allow plant to recover from topping and fill out. Then youll still have about 2 weeks of post veg once you switch to 12/12 allowing plenty of veg time.
As for a good guideline for veg i believe most go 8 weeks before flipping some prefer more or less its really your choice but i think avg veg time around 8 weeks and yes most kush take on the indica trait (most varieties are hybrids this day in age so at times can grow like a sativa). Im sure others will give there opinions as well so you should have some good info to go off of

I would flip soon. Looks pretty big already. Will grow double during stretch. Just my 2 cents.

I’m guessing most of the seed I’ve grown before has been Sativa because I’ve never seen anything this dense. Always before they were way more spread out. All I had was seed from weed and it was all Mex or Colombo likely. I do have better light and growing conditions now so I’m sure that a bit of it but I think genetics is the biggest difference.
I’ll follow y’all’s suggestions. I feel like a newbie even tho I have some previous experience I forgot most of what I knew! So the help is much appreciated.

Just top the center bud or top all of the shoots? I think you mean just the center? So it will grow out not up?

Correct cut the main stem up top. I prefer cutting at 5th or 6th node but between 4th and 6th node is fine as well and then apply the black trellis and that will maintain your height just keep tucking anything trying to grow above trellis line. You may have to adjust it at times but youll have an easier time maintaining height this way. Itll still want to grow up as well as bush out but way easier to control over trying to tie down thick stems

My dad and his buddies are old school growers from the 70s and 80s and they say the same thing but i enjoy learning the old school ways and mixing in new school ways as well. Was at a family get together last weekend and explaining how i grew and listening how they still do it was comical. The looks on there face when you talk about ph water and organic feeding ways was priceless i got a fked up look and was told plant the fking things in the ground top and only water when it hasnt rained 
. His buddy does grow 8-10ft plants in ground and it is great weed but im a firm believer in new school techniques

Do you use any type of co2? I see a lot about it and I was wondering about those tanks where you mix Baking Soda and Citric Acid to create it. Don’t see more than a few good reviews of the bag type co2packages. Mostly people talk about the stink! Mixed reviews on the tank type. Any thoughts?
