Broken Rosin Press

I picked up a rosin press on craig’s list. It worked great, once or twice, then the bottom plate stopped heating correctly and now I have an expensive, heavy, really cool looking, rather large paperweight.

Does anyone know anyone that fixes these things? Or, would anyone be interested in a newer but not totally functional rosin press?

That sucks, what brand is it? Most manufacturers sell plate kits so you should be able to replace it pretty easily. They are also simple machines so you should be able to just drop the old one out and install the new.

While I lack experience with rosin presses, with other devices requiring temp controlled surface heating (like 3d printing) the first failure point locations I would check are:
Heating element - check the connection points to the controller
Temp sensor - Same, check connection points, but also these are commonly not super robust and itself could fail. Depending on your level of electronics familiarity, could remove and test for expected resistance with a multi-meter

I will have to go looking for parts, thanks. I had no clue parts might be sold. Cool
