So, I realized too late on this grow that MG is not good for weed plants. Question is; what’s a good soil that’s cheaper to mix in with the ffof? Don’t want to spend $500 on soil to grow considering I don’t really smoke and am not selling it. That’s illegal and I’d never do anything illegal!
Learn to reammend your soil so you can use it several times over. Gia green is excellent to use to reammend with.
Is there a specific article or just google? I’m willing to pay if I can reuse it just hate to spend all that money for one grow. Thanks as always goat!
Or is it just that fertilizer? Saw some for $30 on Amazon but not sure if that’s it
There are many many videos on YouTube, thats where I picked it up.
I use build a soil craft blend to re-ammend. Their entire line up is amazing.
So essentially I need to pony up the up front cash for the good soil and then start learning how to re-ammend for future grows?
Consider going to YouTube and look up buildasoil. That is if you are looking into the organic living soil grow style. The owner Jeremy has episodes and seasons you can follow teaching you as it grows. I also find the FAQ episodes very helpful also, answering viewers questions.
The reason i always look at buildasoil youtube is because he just doesn’t try to sell his products. He will also tell you how to make it yourself.
Ok, ordered a small bag of their craft blend. I also recently bought a compost tumbler. Hopefully I’ll get the hang of all this soon. It’s nice to have better soil at a cheaper price!
Look into a starter kit from uncle Jim’s worm farm. I recommend them because I know their starter pack. I started with it a few years back. It’s small but enough that you could have teas and top dresses for your plants if you don’t have many at a time. Great source of microbes and some added nutrients. Also I’d echo everything @ItsOzzie stated about the YouTube channel. Personally I love their 10x10 grow series. When I started out I learned to make my own soil from their videos. It’s expensive up front but then you have it forever and just have to freshen it up. And there are many cheap ways to start. They show you everything you need to know basically step by step. If it weren’t for their channel and products I’d still be growing with advanced nutrients sensi grow and sensi bloom. Which means new grow medium every grow.
I personally use “Sta-green potting MIX” and if Im going to start seeds in it I basically flush it real good up front and have had no problems.
This is a seedling that is in it right now:
And as far as fertilizer I use the Cultivation Nation 3 part plus Tiger Bloom and Calmag.
Might cost me about $200 a year to grow…that’s buying all of it…the mix , the seeds and the fertilizer.
Yes there is more expensive stuff out there…but none of it was around 30-40 years ago and people were still growing weed.
I’m getting ready to harvest this one probably this coming weekend:
It was a bag seed and the only difference is that I only used the Tiger Bloom and Calmag.
It comes down to personal preference and what works best for you
I actually used a bag of the stagreen in my mix along with 2 bags of ffof and a bag of miracle grow among other things. I guess my soil shouldn’t be too hot then thank god. Plants look great too! I sure do love growing and enjoying the many challenges. Who said growing was easy!
If you haven’t planted anything yet I would do I guess you could call it a super flush the mix…take your garden hose on low and let it run through on low for about 2 hours in a well draining pot let it dry and just do a normal flush then and your good to go.
The Sta-green did cause tip burn on my auto seedling in the begining. But I had to do an emergency transplant because of bugs. I had already done this for future grow but ended up using it now and I’m not getting any burn at all.
Probably have to start using fertilizer sooner because of doing it but I don’t mind.
Looks like whatever you’re doing is working! I did water the soil for a couple weeks before planting but never flushed like that. It’s my second grow so learning everyday! On the bright side I live in Southern California so can literally grow year round and make my mistakes and learn from them twice as fast compared to others
I moved to growing inside for that very reason. I can grow enough for me to smoke all year for free , which is all I want so I’m good. The one I’m getting ready to harvest is my first plant ever and the seedling is my second. But I learned a lot here and just trying to pass it on.
Absolutely! I love reading and chatting on this app. Don’t know where I’d be without it!
Way off topic but I keep seeing your Pic in the comment sections and just wanted to say I absolutely dig that hat! Is it a popular brand or just a 1 off custom?
@BluntForceTrauma420
If you want to know the truth the gf I had bought it at the local flea market:rofl: it was new and in a bag but that’s all I know…maybe $10 if that much.
But it fits me and my personality to.
gotta love it!
