I’ve never cloned thus far, always just grown from seed but during early defoliation I took a clone, left it in water overnight, then dipped it in some cheap rooting powder and stuck it in some coco with a clear bag over to retain humidity and it took no problem. The question I have is about the growth of side branches from nodes, one side is putting out a good long branch and the other is extremely stunted, some not growing at all. This isn’t a pressing issue, I took the clone purely because I never had and wanted to have a go and havnt given it much thought or care since but it just seemed unusual to me.
Clones are well known for irregular or asymetrical growth. This is often due to the way in which the roots are produced. With a seed, a single tap root descends into the ground, from which every subsequent root forms. This leads to naturally symmetrical growth (nature loves it). With clones, numerous roots are sprouted from random locations in the buried stem. This irregular root growth provides irregular nutrient pathways and accessability and is often reflected in the foliage of the plant. Nothing to be concerned about, as usually this begins correcting itself later in veg.
