Coco Coir Nutrient Advice

Hi all,

I am about to get started and ordering Coco coir substrate because my partner and I decided it was the best for our grow. But I have read here and elsewhere we need to supplement with nutrients…and add perlite?

What strain are you growing? Is it Auto, Fem or Reg?

White widow and Northern Lights auto.

Are you growing Indoor or outdoor?

Indoor/tent

Are you using nutrients? Which ones? How much?

Partner says we should use a 5.5.5. nute. is this a good choice?

fyi…we are in the Balkans so some US brands are not available here, so generic non brand advice is best.

Thank you in advance.

Hello, coconut is a good choice. But you need to understand that you need a good coconut that has been buffered so that there are no problems in the future. It will be good to mix it with 30% perlite and charge the coconut with nutrients before using it. I water each watering with fertilizer, once a week I wash it well with water. I use fertilizers from the manufacturer https://shop.greenhousefeeding.com the result makes me happy.

Thank you @Sedrik777

I am getting the coco from the shop I am buying all of my equipment from. I will get some perlite as well.

Thanks so much for table. helpful.

If you have any questions, ask me, I like to grow on coconut. Coconut has almost the same requirements as hydroponics. PH And EС Control.

Perlite for coco is not really needed as coconut has a lot of air within himself. In soil is a must. IMO

 I was not asking whether to use perlite. nutes was the q. most folks I have read/spoken to who grow in coco add 25% perlite. it is not about the air, it’s about a good balance for drainage.
