Companion Planting

Has anyone messed with adding and using companion plants to help keep yer plant in check and safe?

And considering the time frame of Autos, is it worthwhile with them?

I used to keep spearmint around the grow in an old homemade greenhouse, it can help keep pests away. I potted it separate and kept a couple around the space. It grows fast and makes a nice cup of tea to enjoy from the garden.

I felt obligated to mention mushrooms but it’s more for a sealed indoor space

Yeah!! I’ve used tomatoes to prevent Red spider mites!
And there is another thing when you use aromatic plants: they will probably share their terpene profile.

Mushrooms :mushroom:!? This sounds cool, as does tomatoes @ELI . I dont see too many red dots in these parts, but I’m planning to have a perpetual indoor grow garden and eliminate groceries in any growing category lol. Medicines especially.

So mushrooms n tomatoes, and some spearmint… as the, :face_with_raised_eyebrow:… spearhead… :pinched_fingers::dark_sunglasses: for this operation :sunglasses:.

Thanks yall!

Hi again!! That’s a lovely idea!! Can I suggest lavender and calendula for your crops? Lavender has a spectacular pairing with cannabis when they are growing but as a medicine too.
On the other hand, marigold flowers will help by attracting some pests to themselves and also enhances the effects of some cannabinoids in topical use. Oh!! And if you are going to put mints, I recommend lemon balm, since it is also a great natural antidepressant.

I hope you find these plants where you live, they are common in my country,

Rosemary works well for keeping some bugs away too, i know fungal knats hate the stuff and will go out of their way to avoid it.

Rosemary works out good.

Make sure you are growing determinate tomatoes like Roma or something indoors. I grew indeterminate ones by mistake at the beginning of the winter and it did not go well. Trying to grow a 10’+ plant indoors is seriously hard. Other than that I just use nitrogen fixers like clover as a living mulch when I remember to sow the seeds. It works great with autos and photos.
