I’d like to get into indoor growing. I’m thinking of starting with a 60x60x160 grow tent (unfortunately, I can’t go any bigger). It’s mainly because I find the plants sublime, and if I can also get a little something to smoke, that’s great, but it’s mostly for the beauty of the plant.
I would love to get some advice, tips, and everything I need to buy the equipment and get started.

Personally I’d check out grow weed easy dot com first. It’s got amazing information. Then I would see if you can afford an ac infinity kit if it’s available in your county. If it’s not we can recommend something cheaper or readily available near you.

This is what mine looks like right now. Depending on what you intend to do, you can accommodate 1 large plant, 4 smaller ones (like I have here), or even a Sea Of Green with 9 plants in it. What information do you need? There are many great people here who will gladly help you with it.A list would include a tent, light, exhaust fan, oscillating fan, fabric pots, nutrients of some sort, and a grow medium. I would suggest trellis nets to spread the plant out evenly, it can increase your yield when used correctly. A simple 2 part nutrient will work to start.

Tent, lamp with stepless dimmer, fan, exhaust air (with filter against smell if nobody should smell it), timers, one for each device. If you have to save, save on everything but not on the lamp, it’s the most important.
Depending on your budget.
AC Infinity = Top Quality
Vivosun / Mars Hydro = good quality
China models inferior quality

The light only has just over 500 ppfd, that’s much too weak
You should make sure that the lamp has good chips installed. Samsung is not bad there; the new chips have 2.8 umol or even a bit more. That makes a noticeable difference in yield. It should deliver 100,000 lumens when calculated per square meter. If the lamp is continuously dimmable, you can perfectly adjust it for every growth phase. 150 watts should be completely sufficient for 60x60. The lamp is your most important element for cultivation. PPFD should be between 1000 - 1300 at the highest setting.

With the complete tent kits, there’s usually a light included that’s sufficient for cultivating but doesn’t ensure good harvests. I bought a cheap set and got a good light for it separately. I have now hung the original light in a small tent where I produce my seeds.
I would also add a good pH pen as pH problems are the 2nd biggest cause of issues for beginner growers after overwatering
Look on Mars Hydro and Ac Infinity websites. They both have good starter kits
I already made a basic list for starting a grow. I use Viparspectra lights, they are great for the price. A 150 watt dimmable grow light is in the $100 range. For the fans and environmental control I use VIVOSUN products. Get the biggest size you can, bigger fans will run at lower speed and last longer. I use Coco coir from Fox Farm, both the Cultivation Nation and the Bush Doctor are good. I prefer to use fabric pots instead of plastic bc fabric pots allow more access to oxygen. You don’t need a tent, you could build your own enclosure or use a closet until you’re able to get a tent.

If you’re asking me, I use eBay to purchase most of the products I have. I get my lights from Viparspectra.us, and most of the Vivosun stuff I have came from their website. My other products and some Vivosun stuff came from eBay. Amazon is another site where you can get products cheaply. Other lights I would recommend are HLG, Black Dog LED, California Lightworks, AC Infinity, and Vivosun. I would rank them in the same order, starting with the best, HLG, and ending with the worst, Vivosun.
I do unconventional grows. I buy everything at Lowes. My current grow is in the same pot as this one. I switched to LST on the grow shown. I use a 30 gallon bottom water container filled with sunshine mix #4 and Canadian Nightcrawlers. I use Miracle-Gro Bloom and Feed directly in the water system. the plant in the pic produced 10 ounces dried. i also use tap water. anything harmful is eaten up by the mycorrhizae in the mix. For reference to the size of the plant, the orange netting is 48 inch construction netting i used for trellis. i have a 24x24x52 tent with 3 lights in it, totaling 1600w, full spectrum. A purple light and 2 LED. one is a spider farmer 1000. the others are amazon cheapo lights.
I think if you look at actual wattage used the spider farmer is probably a 100 watt. A 1000 watt light wouldn’t fit in a 2x2 tent, they are normally 4 feet by 4 feet or bigger. Companies like to exaggerate the numbers in ads by saying 1000 watt equivalent or giving the light a 1000 in the name. For example the light I use is a Viparspectra XS-1500 but it’s only 150 watts.
