Defoliation tips

@QuickMaffs if you’ve got a photopariod you can top a much as you like while in veg, it’s a great way to even put your canapé, Iv got 2 Quick Gorilla photopariod and only switched to 12/12 last week, and the one that came out with 5 tops on one branch, unusual :grinning:, but other places on the same plant i accidentally topped ,
So ya you can top a you like a long as your in veg👍

crazy! Thanks man. I knew you could top that main cola as often as you’d like, I just didn’t know you could top everything on the plant! Got some work to do

That’s the two after giving them a first defoliation,

What you think @DeAzNuTz

If these are photos then you did it halfway because I still see a bunch of leaves on them. If you want to do it right then the proper way is to remove all the leaves except the ones at the very top that have such a short stem that you just can’t get to it to cut it off and those are the ones you leave on which are usually the top two leaves, sometimes just one of them. Each branch should only have one or two leaves left at the very top and the rest have to come off. Trust me don’t be scared and do it and you will see that after 3-4 days you won’t be able to tell that it was defoliated because it’ll grow back that fast. And when they do grow back they grow back smaller, second time you defoliate they will grow back even smaller which will create more room for airflow. Then I also do it the third time but I do it without moving them because I already have the scrog net setup and also at that stage there won’t be many leaves to take off and I usually get it done within 30 minutes. Piece of cake :birthday::grin:

This was my first defoliation at day zero but my soil pH was a little high and my leaves were tacoing and getting a little yellow and light green color so don’t look at how unhealthy they look but look at how I defoliated them in comparison to what your plants look like. You can probably see there is a big difference between how many leaves I have left and how many leaves you have left.

Here is another picture of what they should look like :point_down:t3:

Do it aggressively and don’t be scared to damage or ruin your plants because your plants will actually love you for that :slightly_smiling_face:

True enough. I did this the other day, only those top two leaves. That mf is bushy already. Even my wife saw it and said “I thought you were taking the leaves off?” rofl

Yeah man I told you they grow back so fast literally in three four days you can’t tell that it was defoliated but makes a huge difference for your end result :muscle:t4::muscle:t4:
Thank you for sharing so others can see that this is the proper way to do it.

Tbh I was pretty skeptical. And I know I shouldn’t have done it when I did (still in veg and not planning to flower for a while). But It looked like a bunch of sticks. I’ll take and post a pic of what it looks like today

Also, that one in the solo cup was a single stick 3 days ago. I clipped everything off it. I’m kinda just messing with that one to see what I can do with a solo

That’s solo cup is also outgrown that cup by far and needs to be transplanted ASAP unless you’re only using it for practice and not planning on transplanting it. I’m sure you know that but I figured I’ll throw it out there just in case :relaxed:

Anytime brother, that’s what we’re here for :muscle:t4::muscle:t4:
Good luck on your next try!

You can definitely clean up your plant while it’s still in veg just to reveal those bud sites and to lollipop it from the bottom to create some airflow and to remove those suckers that take up the energy to direct that energy to other viable stems the ones that will be producing those fat nugs  but doing a full defoliation in veg is definitely not the right way to do it.

Yeah man I’m just gonna finish that one off in the solo cup haha. Just been playing with it. It was a bag seed :joy:

And yeah I know that now hahaha. I’ll still go through and lollipop a bit later tonight

I like you because you tell it how it is. If I do something wrong I don’t want someone to beat around the bush. Tell me I f’d up and how to do better the next time :sunglasses:

Thanks bro! It would be nice if you’ll do the same for me if or when you notice something that should be brought to my attention, but I’m not banking on it. That’s what this is all about man, we got to help each other without expecting anything back
Good deeds will always come back around and they may come back in a different form but they do come back for sure

Very true! But yeah, don’t think there’s anything I’ll notice that you haven’t yet xD But I’ll keep an eye out haha. Trying to get to your level

If your growing photos yes go for it, you can veg as long as you need for recovery. Autos I don’t recommending topping at all, the veg time is too short and you literally have a very small window of opportunity. You really shouldn’t do any stressing techniques on any cannabis (Auto or Photo) until she’s a foot tall. That way you know there’s a solid root system in place. I’ve done many different techniques to Autos and my conclusion is just let them be and defoliate. Photos go ahead and train to your hearts desire, just give a week recovery in between training sessions.

I have fallen in love with the autos. Just bend ‘‘em and tie them with a pipe cleaner then more colas appear. I defoliate enough for light to get to the middle of the plant because that’s where most my new Colas come from.
