Dehumidifier

I’m in a 2x4 tent right now, about to order a 5x5. I need to find a dehumidifer that will actually do well. Read too many bad reviews about all 17 I looked up on Amazon, some stating that the humidity guage on the auto ones is off by about 10-20%. So now I’m here asking you guys what you think. What do you guys use? My humidifier has automatic control, but it will go 5% above before turning off and 5% below before turning on. I.e; if I set it at 50 RH, it won’t turn on until 45. It also won’t turn off until it hits 55%. I’d like to hone this in a bit more so I’m prepared for the flowering stage.

Recommendations?

You could look into a humidity controller and use your current dehumidifier. The inkbird controller I have can be set to a difference of 1%, up or down. Not sure where you are, but Amazon Canada sells the one i have for 65. This may not work for you if your dehumidifier has an electric switch, since once the power cuts out, it won’t turn back on…

@QuickMaffs I am using this humidifier and it works great. Connects to your phone so you can monitor humidity level.

That’s actually the humidifier I have haha. But I’m looking for a dehumidifier… I don’t have one at all. Would need to buy one to use with that controller :grimacing:

My bad @QuickMaffs , that’s what I get for multi tasking.

Hey I know you’re around chop time at this point but what dehumidifier did you end up going with? And did you end up using one of those Inkbird controllers? Just looking for options for my grow, thanks

i literally just got the inkbird today. just waiting for the dehu to arrive and get it set up but once i do i will let you know what its like. had RH spike up to 85% the other night so that was the reason i went with it.

Yeah when I water and close my tent up humidity spikes to 70%. So during light on timing I’ve been opening my tent up to try and bring it down. I just bought an ink bird and this dehumidifier. If it sucks I’ll just take that loss and save for another but this is what I bought. Let me know how yours is!

yeah i get the same, 70% after watering and closing up. that spike was when i closed the room the tent is in the first night of flip as i wanted to prevent any light leaks, but when i checked the next day i was not expecting to see 85% lol.

i got the same size Pro-Breeze so guessing we should see similar results!

@Graywave i still haven’t gotten a dehumidifier  really need to, but ever since I got the controller for my AC Infinity in-line fan, I haven’t had a single humidity issue haha.
I do want to grab one still though, mainly for the drying phase.

Well I installed the dehumidifier I linked yesterday with the inkbird and after about 24 hours it pulled about an inch of water into the reservoir. I just watered my 4 plants, vacuumed the runoff out of the saucers and closed up my tent about an hour ago. RH is now 72%. I’m not sure this dehumidifier is strong enough for what I was asking from it lol. My inkbird probe is hanging from a tent pole on the ceiling just above the light btw. Really don’t want mold and rot issues later on so I might have to scout for a stronger dehu

picking mine up today but that does not fill me with hope. even if it was supposedly the “best dehu for growtents 2022” lmao…

i was at 72% overnight but temps are quite warm so not too worried yet but will let you know how the pro-breeze does.

where did you site the machine? top or floor of the tent? due to floor space i will have to hang mine

I put the dehumidifier in the middle of my 4 plants on the floor. I put batteries in a second hygrometer and placed it outside the tent (next to my bed) just to check what the difference is. Seems my room is also pretty humid, reading above 60%. So I think I might need to dehumidify my whole room :cold_sweat:

I wash all my laundry by hand and hang them in a guest bedroom nearby to air-dry. The air feels good to me but I didn’t expect RH to be that high. Totally overlooked this point in the grow… RIP my wallet

I hope you will have better luck than me!

lol i live on the coast so would have to dehumidify the whole region

just picked mine up so will update in a day or two :+1:

been running it for an hour and RH is going up

so looking like a pile of hot garbage right now, at least for this purpose. maybe they are ok in an actual closet. but woefully underpowered for this. but if i go much bigger like you i will have to put it outside the tent, meaning a much bigger unit.

the guy in the growshop did say he doesnt recommend bothering with dehumidifiers full stop, he prefers to control the exhaust fan speed. might have to drill him further on that as I am at 67% right now.

What in-line fan are you using? If AC Infinity, I recommend this 100%. Fully automated fan speed based on parameters you set for humidity and temp. You can also connect their normal fans that attach to the tent poles to it:
