Hello everyone, I wanted to get your opinion, community, on the subject of the 24-hour dark period before triggering flowering (12h/12h) – will this
First of all, welcome @ADjahrasta, why do you want to do that? Outside, the sun doesn’t stay away for a day, and the plants still start to bloom. Just reduce the lighting duration a bit daily until you’re at 12/12, then they will also bloom.
Welcome to the community! I agree with herr, no need to do that. I go straight from 18-6 to 12-12. I can maybe see the logic with it of speeding up the transition to flower but I’m not sure. Either way, you’re not gonna hurt the plant too much if you do it so maybe it’s worth a try, although I personally wouldn’t
I currently have a Tarte Tatin in flower; I simply switched it from 16/8 to 12/12. Flowers showed after 5 days. I also have a clone from it that should now go into flower. I’d love to try a direct comparison, so I’ll put it in darkness for 24 hours now and see if it can influence flowering.
Yes, that’s exactly it. You understood correctly; I personally observed a canopy development double in just 24 hours of cultivation. This means that if you work with LST plus intense super cropping, the recovery time will be directed towards the development of inflorescence buds (which
There really isn’t any solid research supporting the dark period. I do a soft transition sometimes (if I remember). I go from 18/6 to 14/10 cycle for a few days which starts to trigger flowering. Then over the next few days I transition to 12/12. This eases the plant into flower like nature does. Outdoors the plant hits preflower/stretch at 14hr of light and is in full flower by the time the daylight hours are down to 12hr. My understanding is the hard transition to 12/12 creates some level of stress. Personally I prefer to make everything as little stress as possible. I grow organically so I like to mimic nature. That said I see no reason it would have a negative effect on the plant so if it makes you happy or you think you see a desired result from it, then go for it. If anything it’s saving you a day of lighting expense. I wish I had 2 tents to do side by sides like this with clones.
The side by side would be awesome! I have two setups at the moment but only run one tent cuz I can just imagine my wife’s reaction ![]()
I could always borrow it and keep it company until you ease her into the idea of you running 2.
It’s a 2x4 I think from mars hydro, the zipper is kinda wonky at the bottom but if you’re interested I’m happy to send it your way! I was trying to hook my uncle up cuz I have the mars hydro ts2000 light just sitting there too but he never came and grabbed it!
Nah man it would cost a fortune to ship that out across the country. If I had the money to cover the shipping I’d have the money for a cheap tent. Wife is out on disability so we are living off my veterans pay for the next few months. I’ll be back on my feet in a month or so. Then I need to organize the basement for another tent.
Evening everyone, so after 24 hours of darkness, the clone is now also on its 5th day of the flowering cycle, but is not yet showing any flowers, only the first hairs. Conclusion: the mother plant was already at least 2 days further along in its stage, so it’s rather a disadvantageous effect due to stress😉
Good to know!
Hi, I’m curious to hear about your plants or cuttings. As for me, I’m still in the stretch phase, with the first flower buds starting to appear, but my plants have become really beautiful after these two months of growth.
Good evening, if you have cuttings, I encourage you to do the test, for my part, I truly believe it, having done the test. Your stretch period will be divided by 2; in one night, they will be able to grow
Which test do you mean?
