2 separate plants have a leaf growing a bud siteā¦
Has anyone ever seen this before? 3+ years and this is a first!
never seen it before. It will be interesting when it is near the end of flowering. Iām keeping my fingers crossed that all the leaves turn into thick budsš

Yes I have! What youāre seeing here is a rare mutation called āleaf budsā or phyllotaxy aberration. Basically, the plant is growing little buds at the base of the leaves, which isnāt something youād normally see in cannabis.
This is likely geneticāsome strains with unstable backgrounds can show quirky traits like this. That said, environmental stress like bad lighting, heat, or sudden changes in the light schedule can sometimes trigger odd growth patterns. Hormonal imbalances in the plant could also be playing a role, causing flowers to appear in unexpected places.
You donāt need to worry too much. While it might not be ideal for yield or looks, it shouldnāt affect potency or resin production. The plant should still finish flowering just fine. If youāre phenohunting, make a note of this trait to decide if you want to keep the genetics. Meanwhile, focus on keeping the environment as stable as possible to avoid adding any extra stress.
Itās nothing badājust a unique and interesting little quirk!
Thanks, it makes sense that itās genetics. The ābreederā was a local guy in Tucson that is no longer in business. Cross between Dark Helmet and Putang. Iāve grown the strain several times now with varying quirks but insane buds.
My grow is dialed in with one small exceptionā¦space! I crammed 6 Aircubes into a 5 x 2.5 ft minus space for tank. Itās an absolute jungle below and Iām concerned its too late for trimming. Keeping humidity near 35-45% to avoid rot.
I have never grown with Hydroponics and was shocked with the growth! Flood and drain is like steriodsā¦
Thanks again for the response. I appreciate any feedback on my grow (above).
You achieved excellent coverage on the available surface!! Bravo!
