First grow & first grow log... any advice welcome

Greetings all. Recently relocated to Spain and lucky to be in a Mediterranean subclimate with a balcony with full sun South and East partially shielded from wind and shielded from view to comply with local laws. This means my grows are limited to two plants so success is high stakes from an investment perspective.

I have outstanding support from a local grow shop and my desire to learn from the owner serves as intrinsic motivation to improve my Spanish so i can get as much growing wisdom from him as possible. I followed his advice and for my first experiment I went with Sweet Seed’s S.A.D, Sweet Afghani Delicious, Auto.

I am using cloth 7 gal cloth pots. Bio Bizz lite mix. I started with 5 seeds in a wet paper towel on Dec 27 on a plate sitting on my router. 4 germinated in three days, 2 made it to seedling. They sat in the living room next to the patio doors and placed outside forecast permitting. One plant was supplemented with 4 hours a day of full spectrum led.

One transfer, when transferred to final pots when the second fan leaves were established.

First two weeks added 2ml/l BioBizz Root Juice per 1000ml watering. Maintained wet/dry soil conditions to avoid overwatering.

From third week supplemmented with ATA XL 1ml/l per 1000 ml watering.

Forgot to air out tap water to remove chlorine until just this last week.

Will test one air pot next grow. Days are longer now and warm enough for a serious run. I knew from the beginning this first one would be stunted because of temperatures being low, combined with short winter days limiting light = growth was slowed. But i knew i could still get something to enjoy if i used an auto for this experience.

From this week i am adding a schedule for feeding and watering using some features in the mobile Jane app. BAC Silica Power once a week for a few weeks during flowering and root and foliar spray application of BioBizz Fish Mix.

I have trimmed one time to keep good airflow and the plants showed no stress. I keep them indoors at night to avoid the lower temps and if it is raining so i have control of moisture.

For my next grow i am going with Humboldt Seed’s Sativa Mack and Crack Auto with an insane predicted THC level. I am a first time grower but im not new to consuming and i know what i like from the consumer aspect.

My third grow will be my first photo sensitive and i will begin in April/May with Humboldt Seed’s Triploid OG Kush.

Any advice for my grow or log appreciated.

Hey how ya doing and congrats on the new hobby and first grow. I can tell you do research and seem to have a good head start on knowledge of growing considering you already knew your outcome will be less than ideal do to enviroment and temps. Ive grown a decent amount of autos and they can be very debatable when it comes to training, feeding, and transplanting for example some are going to say you can top an auto (high stress training) and transfer to bigger pots with no issues and can feed full dosages where as others are going to say your better off doing light stress training (Lst) and seeds should be planted directly into final pots and and feedings should be 1/4 strength and both sides are right lol it all depends on the cultivar your growing but one thing everyone can agree on is the vegetative window is roughly 4 weeks with autos give or take a few days.
Ive never used biobizz lineup so cant speak on it but i know others here have and will probably give there opinion about usage and autos. As for me i plant in final pots and start feeding 1/4 strength and upping the dosage each week if the plants can handle it and prefer leaf tucking and tieing down branches instead of topping my autos so if ya have extra seeds you could try both ways and see which you prefer and feel free to ask all the questions ya got, the community is beyond helpful. Happy growing bud

Many thanks. I hadn’t come across anything regarding autos and nutrients. One plus for me with BioBizz is they’re local since I’m in Spain.

Looking forward to continuing to learn. I was on the fence on whether or not to trim when I found two leaf miner tracks in one fan so I decided to go for it. Figured any stress from airing out the foliage beat damage from insects which would spread.

My goal for now is to learn how to successfully grow organically outdoors in pots.

You may want to reconsider using airpots outdoors in Spain. It might be ok during the winter months but in the heat they will need watering 3-4x a day lol.

If you go with plastic, make sure they are lightproof. One time I was using cheap pots outside, and I had all kinds of issues that I could not resolve. After weeks of going round in circles, it turned out that the sun was penetrating the pots and causing the roots to photosynthesise.

In July and August I would strongly also recommend shade cloth or some other way to protect against the intense summer heat. Maybe you will get some respite on your balcony but in the open it’s a must.

As for insects, Solabiol works a treat :+1:

Sounds like my local grow shop - super cool guy, biobizz and sweet seeds recommendations… his name’s not Jose by any chance lol.

During veg this is not an issue, but during flowering you must keep them out of the rain, if water gets into the bud structure they will rot. Just a fyi.

Cannadiz?? Small world. :joy:

Thanks for the experience with air pots. Good food for thought.

Ah, no. Close, I’m Estepona way.

New grower here last season I did all indoors this year well yesterday I went out and found me an outdoor site I broke ground and I planted two seeds per hole and I did 9 locations I then put a hand full of peters 20 20 20 and spread on top the soil at the plant sites luckily it rained right after I planted. This being my first out door grow I am wanting to know how much maintenance and attention I need to give these outdoor plants

Our family has a pot bellied pig can I put the waste from the pig to any use if so how

Hardest thing about outdoors is bugs, rabbits, deer and thieves. Keep an eye out for all . . . wire plant cages for the critters, spray neem oil or similar for bugs, spray rocksalt for thieves.

I’m sure pig manure can be used, raw you likely need to compost it first.

No, pig manure takes years to break down
