hello,
I’m currently growing outdoors in Ontario for the first time. I have 3 plants in the beginning of the veg stage around 4 feet each. My leaves are starting to yellow in the bottom and middle along with browning so I believe I have a mg and N deficiency. Assuming I solve that has anyone had issues with the roots taking up the whole pot during flowering? They are all in 10 gallon pots but the soil is getting hard from all the growth. Should I be worried about getting them through to harvest in October? I feel like repotting at this point would just be risky.
Thank you for any help and reading all this.
@Kat I’m a new (outdoor) grower in the province next door. Looks like N deficiency
Here is a chart I found helpful
Looks like Nitrogen deficiency, yellowing of the lowers and working its way up since its a mobile nutrient it can be taken from lower leaves in order to support new growth up top.
Magnesium deficiency can be confused with Nitrogen deficiency since both generally start with chlorosis of the lower leaves.
Easiest way to tell the difference is Nitrogen deficiency will cause leaves to go completely yellow. Magnesium defiency will cause yellow leaves and green viens; can also be accompanied by purple/red stems.
The yellowing could also be due to lack of light so leaves eventually stop photosynthesisizing.
What kind of soil are you using? What nutrients, if any?
Soil should have enough food for the first 4-6 weeks of a plants life. Check with your soil brand.
