So my wife and I just purchased a 5 br/2 bath house with a full basement. With space like this I can dedicate to growing would I need to get tents still? I’ve always grown outdoors and am experimenting with indoor grows considering our 4 month winters. Basement is insulated and plants are a good distance from the heater. I’ve got a humidifier running down here to keep the dry away. Using these cheap flood lights for now. Not bad lights 6k lumens each and a 4 foot “10k” lumen shop light. Will buy better lighting once I have a plan.
I would still be running in tents just for the light schedule. Without them the entire room is always stuck on one light cycle instead of being able to switch it up according to what you want/need for what you are doing for a few plants.
I agree with crackadoo unless you plan on switching them all to flower at once and going to wait until they are all finished before starting a new batch id say the only thing you would really have to worry about is the RH and probably dust here and there but can def turn it into a grow room if ya wont have to battle the elements to much when it comes to basements most times
You got plenty of options with that space. A big space can be hard to climate control to what you want exactly. Id have 1 or 2 tents With probably a smaller dry tent also. Getting electrical wired in to handle the power usage is something to look at.
Also, I’d consider getting a full spectrum grow light for those plants. Plants probably wont grow right under a flood light.
If you have the space, basic carpenter skills and want to maintain multiple environments/light schedules look at building partition walls to suit your needs. I have my basement dedicated to growing with 3 rooms, veg, lung and flower partitioned off. Rooms beat tents all day . . . much nicer to turn a doorknob and walk into a room to do plant maintenance rather than unzip a 10’ zipper and work in a crowded tent.
Personally, if I were setting up in that space I’d grab some panda film and 2x2’s to start . . . quick, cheaper than tents and a lot more flexibility. And if you decide to build rooms with stud walls later your panda film isn’t wasted . . . it is a very good reflective wall covering that can be reused.
I had a full bathroom I grew plants in the tub. Then I moved and needed to get a small tent. I get double the yield growing in the tent, I think because I can better control the environment, including lighting. Plus the tent controls the smell better. I ended up with a vgrow due to space restrictions and that is working well for me. good luck!
Definitely decided to go with a couple tents. Harsh winter in New York. Could use the help with temp and humidity. Possibly going to be putting up some walls and going with two separate rooms. One for veg and one for flower. These Led floodlights seem to be working for now.
@REBELGROWS if your still around just curious how the plants came out and how the grow room is as well. Also how ya enjoying the fairly new home lol?
