Grow light help

Bought a 4x4 grow tent. Looking for a good light I’m a first time grower and I know not to skimp on lights. But I also don’t want to spend 500. Recommendations? I have northern lights auto.

Go at least a 400w hps light. I started with a “100w” light and quicjly realised that the true wattage was 60. I changed to mars hydro led lights and saw incredible results. After a few grows. I upgraded my 3x3 to a legit 400w hps light and my yield and quality is unlike anything else. Stick to the guides, buy quality lights, and ask for as much help on this site as you can.

Appreciate that i think I need to buy another I got a viparspeectra one but it’s only 240 I realized. Would that be alright for one plant in there?

A 240w lamp is likely intended for 4x2 coverage but should do fine over a single autoflower.

Hps lights are old and dated. They make your tent crazy hot. Leds are the way to go. Imo mars hydro and viperspectra (however it’s spelled) are mid range lights at best. Get a HLG or ac infinity Evo you’ll see easier and better results than a Hps or mid range light.

Look up HLG blackbird refurbished. I use it in a 5x5 but it’s meant for a 4x4 I think when I bought my refurbished one it cost around 500. With a 4x4 it’s going to be very hard to find a good light under 500. Ac infinity makes an Evo series of lights that are great quality as well. Personally I’d avoid mars or spider farmer their customer service sucks and the lights aren’t pulling the wattage advertised

HLG’s Christmas sale started yesterday . . . 25% off. Can get a refurbed 350R for $299 right now . . . it’s a 3x5 open lamp, it would do well as a stand alone in a 4x4. The refurb Blackbird is like $550.
