Grow with Jane v3.0 Early Access is now open

Hi Growlings!

I’m really happy to share that Early Access for Grow with Jane v3 is now open.

This is one of the biggest updates we’ve ever made to Jane. Not just because of how much changed, but because of what it represents. v3 is a big foundational step toward the kind of platform we’ve wanted to build for a long time: a better place to grow, learn, share, and connect.

Some of the biggest changes in v3 include:

• New profiles and social foundations: profile onboarding, edit profile, follow/followers, notifications, reporting, native share, and a new account area
• Integrated comments in Growlogs: you can now comment other people public Growlogs and you’ll get a notification when someone comments yours.
• Jane AI, a growing assistant: new AI chat flow, conversation history, diagnosis flow, inline insights, and growlog attachments. You can also ask questions about other people’s Growlogs or yours!
• A redesigned Garden view: Trees and Environments are now merged into one unified Garden view
• Achievements system: a new system to celebrate progress and participation inside your profile
• A refreshed gallery and Growlog experience: both screens get new and much requested features and a UI refresh
• A lot of fixes, polish, and stabilization work across auth, deep links, notifications, privacy, sharing, layout, and UI behavior

There is also one important change: from v3 onward, sharing new growlogs requires completing your public profile setup. We’ve kept legacy public growlogs online, but new public sharing will now be tied to a profile. This is an important part of building a stronger community layer around what you share. You can always keep everything private is that your preference, and of course your display name can be as anonymous as you choose.

Because this is Early Access, not everything is about being perfect on day one. Some things will feel better immediately. Some things will still need iteration. That’s exactly why we want to open this stage with you.

If you try v3, please take a few minutes to fill out our feedback form. We want to understand what feels good, what still feels rough, and what you want us to build next. Your answers will directly shape what we prioritize after this release.

Still no support coming for PC users?

Not everyone carries or wants to carry a phone and if I have to use one to create a grow log or comment on a post I’ll just use my spiral binder and pencil for a log and my comments will go unheard. Phone screens can be troublesome for some of your older users, considering the needs of older and visually impaired users would be nice for a change. Especially if you’re wanting to build a stronger community . . . can’t build stronger communities by restricting access to phone users only.

Since Apple slipped the “Liquid Glass” feature in with the recent upgrade my phone is basically unusable other than as a phone for me. Damn transparent icons and wiggly screen garbage caused me literal headaches and burred vision. It is better now that I’ve disabled what I can of the upgrades, but I can’t use it for reading forums or the like.

Hi frogy, no full GWJ web version yet, but we do have it in our plans. Explore growlogs and community forums are already synced. Public profiles, favorites, achievements, comments and all social features will be in the web in the coming weeks. And the next step will be the tracking piece but I can’t promise dates yet. It’s a big development and we know it’s important, we don’t want to mess it up. I truly appreciate your opinion I think you are absolutely right and I’m really sorry about the recent headaches with the Apple UI. If there’s anything else we could do in the app before being done with the web version, please let us know.
