Growing blind

I have 2 Gelat OG from seedsman. In southeast Tx pre flowering began 7/14/22. Bud sites are growing so I assume they are in the flowering stage now.

I have lots of questions about curing so I hop this will post and I can figure out how to look at reply’s. Thanks.

She is in flower. Probably going to be about another month or so before harvest. That’s another creature in itself, knowing when.

Those girls are for sure a couple of weeks in to flower! Such a beautiful and exciting time!!

Hopefully, you’re giving those girls a good dose of bloom nutes to help fatten up those buds!

I am about harvest an autoflower here in a week or so and i will be in to the drying and curing phase, myself.

From my past couple of grows I would begin by letting my plants use the rest of their nutes during the last week or so before cut . Most growers do a flush during the last 2 weeks or so.

I trim most of the large fan leaves off before I cut the plant down. I typically cut off branches one at a time and do a decent wet trim. I then hang the branches in a storage room I have that stays at 19-20 deg C and about 45-50% humidity- pretty good for drying and curing. After about 5-7 days I stay checking the branches…if they break clean off…they are ready to go in to jars. There are a dew ways to determine proper dryness. Use a combination of ways to make sure. Once dry, i do a nice dry trim, saving those clippings for other stuff. After the dry trim I am left with beautiful top shelf looking buds. In to jars they go.

Open your jars, everyday, a couple times a day for the first week or so. In open mine in the morning before I go to work and when I get home. Then, once more before bed. I have never had issues with mold or anything doing it like that.

After the first week or 2 you can cut back opening your jars to once a days. Let your smell assist you here…each timenyou open your jar your weed should start to smell better. If you start to smell ammonia your weed is still too wet and must be left out to dry some more. It is important to check multiple times every day to ensure tour bud is curing properly.

After week 3 - 4…you can open your jars a few times a week. Again…monitor your buds to make sure they are curing properly. No foul smells.

I know people and I have also used humidity packs for storing large amounts of weed for long times.
I have buds from 2 seasons a go that are still moist and squishy. I have jars with and without humidity packs and have not noticed much if any difference in the weed dryness. You will have to decide.

My weed cures in jars in the same room I dry. Perfect conditions for curing. They stay cool.and in the dark 99% of the time.

This is just what I do. I used different techniques from different sources I have learned over the years.

Hope that helps. You will have plenty of time to read up on the processes while you wait for those girls to fatten up!!

Cheers!

Thank you for responding. This is my second attempt and last year’s I let get too ripe. The beautiful buds were sticky and smelly but the triclomes weren’t turning tan . Then the aroma , and sticky went away. I kept looking and waiting on the Triclomes. Harvest was late, I’m guessing?

Interesting. I have never waited that long.

Yeah…I guess you waited too long.

How did you like the buds? Did you smoke them? What effects did you feel?

That’s why I need curing advice. I dried the plant in my garage for 12 days but the buds never got like tight. Then cured in glass jars again in the garage. I did provide ventilation during the one hour open period for about a month. No temp or humidity control. Buds never got tight and the smell was mostly like cut grass . Almost 2oz yield and it’ll give you a high but no fun to smoke.

That sucks!!

I’ve learned that the garage isnt the best place. Truth is, a properly controlled temp and humidity area is the best way. The only way, really.

I know that good bloom nutes help ensure fat tight buds. Not sure if you used anything there.

Leaving too much green material on the buds when drying can also lead to the hay smell. I know that was an issue for me on my first grow a few years ago. Actually , I had 2 main issues…I didnt feed during bloom and I didnt trim enough green material off. I had larfy buds that got you high but tasted like hay.

If you dry to slow or to fast…curing isnt going take place properly.

Figure out a good place to dry and a good process to do it. Then, curing will be easy…all it requires is patience and burping your containers.

Hope this helps.

Cheers…

Yes sir that helps a lot . For some history, I am growing outdoors. I planted in a 3 gal. Pot of miracle grow potting soil. I fed them with again miracle grow plant food that’s 24% N , 8% Ph, and18% potash. Now that I’m in flowering stage
I’m using Vigoro Bold Blooms that’s 15-30-15.
I’ve been trimming once a week, but please let me know if I need to trim more.

Growingblind those plants look beautiful I would let it be let her grow only time I would trim is if leaves are blocking bud sites from the light but that is just me you do need good oxygen flow through your plant so if there is too much over growth then I would trim it also but yours look great happy growing

Looking happy and healthy!

Got some nice buds forming there, too.
Read all you can about growing and it will help you build on your success, each grow.

Cheers!

Thank you @Twisteddutch. I appreciate you taking time to answer and thanks for the glowing comments. Makes my head swell hearing that from established growers . This is my second try so some harvesting and curing comments will help when the time comes.

Thanks @Rolling_Stoned. So far so good. I guess I’ll just keep doing what I’m doing and study the harvest and curing so I don’t screw these up🤣. Please keep communication open, I’m putting my faith on your advice.
