Growing outside frost guidance please

I have 4 Northern Lights-growing nicely-1 is 7 feet tall! Lots of buds that are well developed and some just starting to mature. So my concern is how much does frost affect the plants? Do I take them down before or after a frost? I am including some pics to illustrate the degree of development
Location: East of Lake Ontario, NY State. Cold front is in Michigan (10-7-22) and heading this way…

I am not very experienced. But I would think that the Frost would not be good for the bud.

Is there anyway to move under a porch or cover it with tarp?

I did this…

Im in Central Ontario. These girls have seen frost twice already. Poly tarp has been amazing.
Next week I think they will see frost a couple more times. It slows them down for sure but they are not ready. Check em everyday for rot and stuff. At this point…it is just a matter of when they trichomes turn.

I def will I am excited

I considered a tarp but I think it would damage the plants to set it up. It would also be visible from the road since it would be higher than my 6’ fence.

I want a garden where i can grow trees like you! Damn!

I totally get it, man.

I learned a hard lesson last year which is why I made preparations for the tarp at the start of this year knowing I would need it.

I like to keep my plants short and wide with many large colas. I’m done trimming popcorn buds, I only want the colas now. It also helps if you do require a makeshift, temporary structure to protect them.

Thanks, dude.

I stuck these in my raised bed once the veggies were out and built the canopy. Saving my ass so far.

Gave them a trim this morning. It got down to 3°C last night. It will be about 10°C today and it doesn’t look like it gets any warmer moving forward.

OK-got really windy and 1 bush was bowled over. Harvested 3 of 5 plants on 10-12 and a 4th on 10-15. 1 plant remains and it is significantly delayed-just barely budding and no color on buds. Not sure what the thc content would be like if we have another frost (3 already) but the bush still looks hearty!

The cold will slow down the plant, significantly.

If you can make a greenhouse to get you through, that would be your best bet.

If not, and you say your last plant is just beginning to bud, I’m sorry but I don’t think it will reach full maturity. Depends on where you live, though.

Flowering takes a minimum of 8 weeks usually for a faster strain. Most tines it takes more when growing outside.

Just an update on my outdoor plants-harvested all but one, She is very delayed but parts of this beautiful plant (imho) are really blossoming nicely (even after 2 frosts) but other parts of the plant are still in early flower stages.
Thank you for the suggestions. I have held off on harvesting this last plant since it seems so hardy. I took pictures today and here is a well developed pic to compare with a delayed developed bud.

It is hard to believe they are from the same plant. For identification: this from a second generation outdoor ‘misc’ seed packet. If anyone has a suggestion what this strain may be please let me know. Based on in vivo experience, I believe it is an indica strain.
