Harvesting and bloom issue

The strain I’m growing is Hindu GDP from equilibrium genetics it’s a indica dom. It’s a photo. It’s about late stage bloom on. 12/12 light cycle with light switch on for both veg and bloom on at same time. Rh is about mid 40s temps are mid 70s. I use GH for my fertilizer and bloom booster from fox farms … question is typically I hear or read harvest when the terpines are turning amberish or brown … I have been already waiting two or three weeks now still pretty much white light frost on leaves but nothing massive . Will every strain reps turn amber as a signal to harvest or are these ready or should I give it another two weeks.

Hello, my friend! Welcome again!

When the trichomes are milky, that is when their cannabinoid and terpene production reaches the maximum level. When they turn amber (or brown, orange, even violet or red, but always translucent), it means that the cannabinoids present begin to “oxidize”, turning into more narcotic compounds. That is why if you wait until all the trichomes are mature, the effect you get will probably be narcotic (it sends you to sleep).
However, as trichomes do not mature all together, it is suggested to wait until some are amber, to ensure that there are not so many transparent trichomes (which have minimal cannabinoid content). So the perfect harvest time would be when we get the most white/milky trichomes possible. And that is achieved by letting some go over the point, and turn amber. I like to wait until I have between 15-20% amber trichomes.

Look, I leave you the article on the blog, it is very well explained: How to harvest Cannabis plants indoors: a guide for beginners

You’ve definitely got a few weeks left just looking at the white pistils

I am seeing lots of discoloration throu my leaves. Idk if nute burn I see lack of calcium but will she be okay for three more weeks

This looks fine honestly the leaves should die off to some degree as you get close to harvest. I’m not sure what medium you are using but don’t forget to flush . The plant has a good frost to it and as long as a good portion of trichomes are amber if your going for that knockout gas couch effect then I do t see much here in these pics for alarm …

So the way the trichomes look now you wouldn’t harvest because the potency will be low but your not saying it’s not possible but you would recommend a better effect if you allow some oxidizing to occur

I Don’t know how the trichomes look, but as Mjcalifornia said, looking at the pistils she seems to need more time. If you let me guess, I think that those trichomes are still transparent. I wouldn’t harvest yet. Maybe you can get a magnifying glass or microscope (60x). A high resolution camera can take pictures of the trichomes too.

Hello Chance! It’s great that you were able to take these photos!!!
I think I see some amber trichomes, especially in the last photo… maybe the outcome is closer than thought

Keep checking but also remember that most strains are going to flower for minimum of 8 weeks plus so if you are only a month into flower make sure you are holding out long enough and not costing yourself yields

I have a few different light in my tent I noticed under the hot white light I have fuller buds more developed not by much. Am I able to take the ones that are ready and let the others finish out or is this not a good idea

Yeah you can definitely do it that way, I’ve had a few times where I was in the same situation and it works nicely

Yes you can harvest top then work your way down

Beautiful plant, congrats!
