HELP! I have critters crawling!

I’m in week 8 of my flowering and I have come to find that I have thripes!!!

Does anyone have a clue what so can do to salvage my buds? Are they a total loss???

I have this…. But I am very worried that it’s TOO late to treat this!!!

Thoughts???

My thoughts are -that sucks, bro. Right near the end, too.

I’m sure that you’re googling the shit out of possible solutions.

Hope you figure it out!! Let us know.

I’m definitely googling shit nonstop!!! I don’t think it’s gonna hurt my buds, but at same time I need to make sure it doesn’t ruin the smoke. :unamused:

I’m going to be attempting to spray the entire tent tonight. Man this maybe a hardcore flush in a week or so….

Best of luck, man!!

Thanks! Maybe someone else had hit this issue also. It’s so friggin horrid that it’s at the END of the flowering.

I imagine you have already checked this out.

Hey man. Shitty deal. I dealt with thrips my first time growing in doors. If I could recommend anything, it’s that you don’t spray. I think you may end up causing more damage than you fix. I got my thrips from a couple clones I got from a pro grower and he told me never spray chemicals or foliar once the buds are passed a week or 2. He said it would ruin the smoke and it’s not something you can flush out. Since his clones caused the issue he gave me 2 different types of predator bugs. One was a thrip killing mite and the other was a chrysopa that ate aphids and thrips. He also gave me nematodes for my soil. The yellow sticky traps worked well too. I had 2 or 3 of those per pot and then also had fly tape hanging. The pro grower also got this long roll of yellow sticky tape and her gave me a bit of that and i just stuck it to the inside of my tent. The traps helped a lot too. I personally would leave it, but I get that you want to get thos taken care of. Hey @WishAgainMichigan what would you do if this happened in one of your rooms?

Ah thrips, a very common bug, good news is it really won’t affect your crop much. But of course no one wants to smoke bugs, for this you can actually foliar spray up until the 3rd week of flower, and if you’d like to steer clear of that issue, you could release 2 types of good bugs to attack the thrips, those are called Californicus and Cucumeris, I hope I helped out! A good way, to identify if you have thrips without ever seeing one, your leaves will have little whitish chew marks through the leaves. If you see this during vege, it’s never a bad idea to take action asap

Crap, we’ll I guess it’s gonna be a big bug bud smoking time…. :unamused::unamused::unamused: This really does suck tho! I’ve never ran into these in any of my grows…… first time for everything guess.

Does having CO2 in tent prevent them??

Cut it, dry it, smoke it. They will fall out when the plant stops producing energy and the plant has been in darkness for an extended period. It helps to drop the temps as low as you can. It extends drying time a short period, but forces crtters to seek warmth. You don’t have to keep it cold long maybe 12 hours at 45F, and don’t use the fridge or freezers. They super chill the trichs and they fall off leaving shitty weed. Ask me how I know.:rofl:

And yes, if you can get the CO2 levels up to lethal levels 60% atmosphere (600,000ppm) it will be severely detrimental to the plant as well. Ideal ppm for cannabis is 1500. There’s 414ppm (average) in the air we normally breathe or .04% of every breth inhaled.

So that’s the only way to save em? Harvest now and hang dry so the critters fall off?

I mean these plants are “close” but wouldn’t normally harvest just yet but if that’s what I gotta do then ok. Dropping temp to 45*F in Aug is gonna be a feat!

I normally have CO2 bags hanging but just not one in this tent. My other two tents have CO2 bags. Guess I need another to help prevent critters?

How long left till Harvest? if 3 weeks or more, hit it with Neem oil. Lowes has it. Or order an crap load of ladybugs.

I have been seeing the neem oil is an all natural remedy. I have about 3weeks give or take a few days on most plants. Maybe 2 at the shortest….

What do you do with ladybug’s after you harvest?

Put them outside or keep them. Neem oil is all natural but taste like shit if you smoke it.

Will it flush out at all???

It’s a foliar spray. It has to wear off pretty much. I used it last year and I could taste it, but no one else could. I guess because I was expecting it.
